GM dropped wrong brands in the USA. Buick was saved just because of the Chinese market.

My issue was the amount of money GM has invested on Cadillac (remember the LMP1 racing program?) they should have a more diverse and better selling product line . . . shouldn't they?
IMO, their is no perfect "luxury" brand, and I'm not saying Lincoln will conquer all, but I am happy FMC has a plan for Lincoln and are executing said plan.

I saw one at the auto show earlier this year and I actually liked it a lot. It's not just a rebadged Sebring. I really liked the interior.

It doesn't matter what we see, we're not people who's gonna be buying a Lincoln anyway.
If Lincoln drivers are 90 years old and drive too slow, well then Lincoln needs to get those type of buyers back. If Lincoln buyers wanna a 20 ft long 6,000 lbs yachts, then build them. Those type of buyers made Lincoln #1 luxury brand in the USA from the late 1960s until 10 years ago. I don't care who Lincoln's buyers are as long as they're buying Lincolns. Unlike this new crap which is not attracting old or young buyers. What the heck was wrong with Continental and Town Car? They were selling. Who cares if an average buyer is 90 years old? Now MKS (which replaced Town Car) is not being bought by anyone, young or old.
There are a lot more 60-year-olds that can spend $50,000 on a car that 25-year-ols.

Thats a lot of dough, hopefully it yields a Lincoln that is refreshed and refined. I personally don't hate the Lincolns now at all but there is room for improvement. Mulay knows what he is doing so I'm not too worried.
+1 on the MKR. That is a **** sexy car, one that can sit next to a Jag and keep its dignity.
When Lincoln was successful, they had like 3 or 4 products. I understand things have changed, but that formula may still work.
Large Car: Town Car like product. This could be an issue because now we have no rear drive 4 door platform. This also could be more of an argument for bringing the Falcon here or building it here as opposed to shipping it here. I'm betting we have excess capacity to build it. Flat Rock alone will have plenty of excess capacity soon.
Medium Car: Continental. I'm sure the savy designers of Lincoln can figure a way to very tastefully incorporate the old "tire" rear end on something like a Taurus platform and make this work. It'll have to be top notch though.
Coupe': Do the Mustang as a Cougar. Done correctly and I've seen some mockups here, the thing will look dynamite. Separate it out by using the 3.5EB engine instead of the V-8.
Small Car: Capri? Use the Focus. That is a dynamite little car and platform. Use the EB 2.0 in it and make it available with 3 and 5 door configurations.
SUV: Use the Explorer which is an awesome truck, send it another say $5-8K north and make it WORTH it. Really knock out the interior etc.
That is my thinking for a winning formula for Lincoln. If the products are done right and the advertising is executed well, you'd see traffic driven into the dealerships.

The Lincoln lineup is in desperate need of a design intervention, and Automotive News reports that help is on the way. Ford product development boss Derrick Kuzak reportedly told dealers that Lincoln will receive seven new or refreshed models by 2014, including a little love for the long-ignored Lincoln Navigator.
The Navigator will reportedly receive the twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine option for the 2012 model year, giving large luxury SUV buyers a more fuel efficient option. The Navigator could also receive some design tweaks, but we're not expecting anything close to a full redesign.
The Lincoln sedan lineup will also get some attention, with the MKS and MKZ receiving substantial updates for the 2013 model year. The MKZ will reportedly be completely remade, with all-new sheetmetal that should look very little like its Ford Fusion counterpart. The MKS will also distance itself from its more pedestrian platform-sharing Ford Taurus, with a sleeker design and more premium materials.
Lincoln may also diversify their crossover offerings, including a new compact 'ute based off the Ford Focus platform that should arrive during the 2013 model year. The MKX, which was just re-penned for 2011, is also scheduled to receive an all-new platform based off Ford's global mid-size architecture for 2014. The MKT could receive a minor refresh for 2013, but then again Ford could wind up ditching the big crossover altogether or relegate sales of the model to livery and fleet customers.
A key component to future Lincoln redesigns will be minimizing any connection between the luxury make and any Ford siblings. Changes could include far more differentiated sheetmetal, different wheelbases and unique powertrains.
