Can I still change my order?

I ordered a Shelby GT500 on April 25th. I ordered the car black, but have had second thoughts about the color because of all of the comments I've read about the difficulty in keeping the car looking clean. I contacted my dealer today asking him to change the order to Kona Blue with white stripes. He said the system would not allow it. He printed up the message he received:

U706 - CANNOT SPEC CHANGE - UNIT INVOLVED IN COS LINEUP PROCESSING. QC06982

I called Ford marketing, and it seems the car was assigned a vin number today, with no production date assigned. I thought I read in a post elsewhere from Deysha that a change could be made as long as a production date was not assigned. Maybe I'm wrong.

Can anyone help?

There is nothing wrong with Black. Kona is a nice color but a Black GT500 is one good looking ride.

A freshly washed and waxed black GT500 is sex on wheels. You might have to wash it more often, but...I can't imagine it not being worth it.

If it's garaged there shouldn't be a problem.. I've had my black chevy truck for ten years and I still love it. Go with your first choice! You will not regret it!

It looks just incredible with red stripes. There's a couple of them around me and I just about wet myself the first time I saw one of them.

Kona isn't any easier to keep clean. You may need to polish once a year or every couple to remove swirls since the black isn't metallic and you'll notice them easier. Nothing looks better than black. Period.

It's in the process of being scheduled, which is probably why you are being locked out from making any changes.

100% agree dont change it if cleaning is your reasoning. Kona is worse than black in some respects.

Orders cannot be changed on Thursday, as that is the day each week that Ford is processing scheduling each week. We (dealers) get a fresh report each Friday showing what was scheduled for the week and any status updates. If the OP's car did not get submitted to the plant today, then his dealer can change the order tomorrow.

I will never understand people saying black's hard to keep clean. My aunt has a tan car. Dirt is dirt is dirt! Doesn't make a **** what color the car is, still gets dirty!
OK, other hides it which black does not, I get that. I had my 95 re-painted to Laser Red. That car is right now dirtier than my 11 can ever be.

Keep the order like it is. You'll like once you get it. But if you want to change, go for it! Your car!! Buy what you want!

Does changing the order then affect the build scheduling or does it "keep it's place in line"?
