I called up Ron at Fast Specialties in Vancouver, WA today and got a quote for Ford Racing 3.73 gears and a t-lok. Parts (including bearings, friction modifier, etc) and labor are going to be $757.50. Here's the bonus... this includes an hour of free dyno tuning!

Parts are being ordered and I drop the car off on the evening of the 19th.

So... am I getting a good deal? It feels like it and I'm super excited!

pretty sweet....

I got my 3.73 gears and t-lok installed for $300. The dyno tuning is a plus. Are they keeping your car overnight?? The shop i had mine done didnt take that long to install gears.

If that is parts, labor, and a dyno tune, then you got an excellent deal? The parts alone are about $350.

Awesome deal!
I was SUPPOSED to have mine done today but guess what, the Motive pinion gear I got from Mustangtuning.com is defective!
The spline shaft is .007 too big!
My installer was able to get a new set overnight but now I have to wait an extra day. UGHHH! :angry:
And I have to pick up the return shipping to mustangtuning.
Anyway, good luck Hamid. Post when you get it back.
Hopefully I can post happy results tomorrow.

I'm just dropping off the car the night before so they can have it first thing in the morning. I'm sure I'll get it back Friday afternoon (that is, the 20th)

I'm really pleased with the deal they cut me. There shop rates seem to be very reasonable... $125/hour for dyno tuning and $75 for 3 runs monitoring air/fuel, hp/tq.

Gary... oh man! Bummer! That's like moving Christmas back a day!

I'm excited for you. You guys just keep making it easy for us new guys to follow along behind. Just keep us posted on the results, so we know what to expect. You chose 3.73 gears, did you consider 4.10s since you have an automatic? Good luck! I'm saving my dough as we speak.

05 cayuse... I considered 4.10's, but didn't want the higher rpm's.. so, 3.73's hit the sweet spot... slightly higher rpm's, but still benefiting from a higher ratio.

Have you decided on which gears yet? 3.73's or 4.10's?

btw... my intall date has moved up to Tuesday!

I have 3.73s because I wanted to able to still hit 60 in 2nd gear. They raised me about 150 RPMs, I think. Tell you what, give me your RPMs at 80 and I will post what mine is and we can figure out the difference.

My car actually got slower when i added the 3.73's and T-loc. I used to run thru the traps at the track right when the car shifted into 4 gear, ran 14.94 at 92? with 2.2? 60 ft. I added the gears and tloc and the car went 15.3 at 90. The car was shifting into 4 gear during the 1/4 mile run and loosing a bit of momentum. I then added an AFE intake, extended my shift point by a couple of miles in every gear and increased the shift pressure 25% in every gear change. After this the car was back to 14.96 at 91.5 with a 2.25 60 ft. With this said, i have been thinking about going back to the stock gears.

I have a stick, so my car will shift when I tell it to! Control issues?

I'm going with3.73 gears when I make the switch, for the same reason. I want better launch, but don't want to be really humming at fast highway speeds. Good luck on the install!

try running the car in 3 rather than D before changing them out.

That's the first I've heard of a car going slower with gears... anyone else have a similar experience?

ManE... I guess I've never really tried running my car is 3. If you have it in 3 from a stop, does it go through all the gears, just like in D (only stopping at 3 of course)?

3 is 3rd... no 1st or 2nd... just 3rd...

You need to start in 1 or D... As for me I just put it in D and go! LOL!
