I was having some service done to my car last week and was looking at the 06's. A salesman started one of them it was a lot louder than mine 05 is.

I didn't see any markups on them about changing the muffler and the salesman said they came off the truck that way.

Any one know if the 06 6's now use gt mufflers?

Thanks,

All mufflers have (for the most part) the same basic part number of 5230
here is what I posted on the above mentioned thread.

A short Ford Part number primer..

Prefix 5R3Z Basic 5230 Suffix A

The prefix of the part number calls out the year and model of the car that the part was made for

The basic is the actual part, this is a muffler.

The suffix indicate engineering level of the part.

BTW I have a V-8 muffler on mine and its sounds great and seems to benefit the car's performance.

I think it's more likely a case of comparing a new unseasoned muffler with one that has a few thousand miles on it. Almost all mufflers mellow noticably as they're broken in.

No it's not a comparison of an old to a new. These were louder than mine ever was.

It was no minor difference a lot louder and totally different tone.
