I was just wondering if anyone has ever waited for new model of a car before like were all waiting here for our new stangs. How much longer after order completion will it take for me to see my car???? My parents bought a 97 Expedition on the Z plan when they first came out and the dealer made us wait 6 months to get it because they woulnd't sell us one off the lot. But I don't think there is as much of a demand for the stang as there was for the Expedition. I also was told I have the first order coming in to the lot sooo??????

Whoa Nelly, easy...
its comin...

The sooner you hope it comes in, your only setting up for dissappointment....its coming, don't worry
6-8 weeks after Job1 is the regular wait (unless of course they decide to holdback a bunch of first rounders for quality checks)

If you think the demand for the new Mustang is low, you got another thing coming. They will be hard to get exactly how you want it, especially for the first 3-4 months. People with special plans or discounts should expect to wait a few months. Dealers contract with Ford allows them to NOT sell you a vehicle off the lot.

Ford car dealers will be either jacking up the price, or will refuse to sell for less than the sticker price. This is when the internet and just plain old shopping around pays off.

This whole waiting process drives me nuts. FORD Canada has brochures out that state "available Fall 2004". Unless Ford has their own Seasons I can't see this happening. Currently it doesn't appear that a date has been scheduled for the build of the Canadian cars. If once they are built we still wait 6-8 weeks after that would mean late December the car would arrive. If that is the case I might cancel my order.

I definately do not want to receive a Mustang in the middle of the winter. I would just wait until April to purchase one.

The only wait for a new model that was longer for me was the 1997 Jeep Wrangler. Buzz for the next generation Wrangler began in 1994, test mules were spotted around 1995 and hit show rooms early to mid 1996... The original plan was to release them in late 1995 as a '96 model.

I, for one, have never followed the release of a new car the way I have with this one. Of course when I've been car hunting before, Al Gore hadn't invented the net yet.

I'm sorta with you on that I don't want to get my new stang in the winter. But I wouldn't cancel my order. If I don't get mine at the latest November I will be a little upset.

Ya, I guess I won't cancel but I definately would like to receive it before it gets too cold. I'd like to have a few days of driving around with the windows down before worrying about a blizzard.

That's the route I'm taking. Plus, it allows me to find out the following before I buy:

- see all the colours in person
- see if Ford (by some miracle) offers 18's early
- choose aftermarket rims and tires for the car to be put on upon arrival
- see if anything special shows up at SEMA
- avoid 1 winter

I hate to say it, but the October date is perfect in Arizona. That's when the weather is getting right about in the 70's and 80's. And to think, 3 years ago when I moved here in the summertime, I didn't know what the heck I was thinking!! (believe it or not, the summers aren't really that bad......and this comes from someone who grew up in chilly Wyoming!)

That's what I am thinking, and what I have heard from my dealer... the beginning of October. And I really don't think dealers are going to be marking the first cars up like some people think. 99% of the population doesn't even know about the '05 Mustang. I have in writing from my dealer I will get one of his first 2 cars, and will not pay over invoice. So, I'm not worried there. But, I am the type of person to always expect the worse, so that way I am never disappointed. I am expecting to drive off the lot in my Mustang before Thanksgiving. I don't see it being later than that for the ones who ordered first and who have a good relationship with their dealer.

The dealership I ordered mine from is only getting 3 stangs and 1 is a GT....mine. They say I will get the X-plan so I am not too worried about the price. My main issue is when do I start selling my current car rather than wait and trade it in. Knowing my luck I put it up for sale next week and it goes in a few days then I am walking around till the stang shows up.....
