Assuming that Kenne Bell and Saleen (Whipple) will make superchargers for the 3v 4.6L on the 05 stang, which supercharger generally performs better??? Kenne Bell or Whipple???

 

From the research I've done, twin-screws are the best, and KB and Whipple both makes that type. However, I've yet to see dyno charts for a Whipple, and so that makes me wonder, since KB puts dynos of their SCs on their site, showing specific vehicles.

They both say they are the best, just like every other company does. Whipple says "up to 60% power boost," but honestly, if they are talking about a 14psi system, that doesn't seem like a high enough number to me.

I'd go KB or Procharger. Then again, this is all based on the current SCs that are out. It will take at least a year for R&D for the 05 engine, so I don't really think anyone can say one way or another who is going to make the best SC for the 05. It's a waiting game.

 

The 05 3V has a variable intake. Therefore I think a vortech or similar will be much easier to install and cheaper and good hp is avaiable just a little higher in the rpm band doesn't have the low down torque.

 

Doesn't the new 3V 4.6L engine in the '05 Mustang have a phenolic plastic intake? If so, won't this prevent a ProCharger or Vortech.

Also, looking at the engine closely in the car, and outside of the car from the pics on this site, I think KenneBell is in for a challenge, as I cannot find a location to place the drive snout of the Twin-Screw Supercharger...?

I looked at the engine pics again and forgot to mention what I meant by not finding a place to mount the drive snout, Ford placed the Throttle Body smack in the middle if the intake manifold, just like the LS1 and LS2 engines in many GM cars.

This makes placing a twin screw superchager on top of the engine without find a place to relocate the throttle body a problem.

Additionally, I don't think Ford will be placing a Supercharger on the '06-'07 SVT Mustang, as the new layout really discourages this. I would bet more on the newly released 5.0 Cammer engine that runs 11.0:1 compression, or maybe even the 5.4L Mod motor will return for a production Mustang, not limited.

 

No it wont prohibit that. Look at the current 96-04 4.6L SOHC intakes. They are all plastic and i've seen 500rwhp+ out of those cars via a blower.

 

We've already been told that the SVT will be a 5.4L supercharged.

A good SC will replace the intake anyway, so what difference does it make what material the stock one is made from?

 

Ford won't be putting the 4.6 3v in the Cobra though.

That's right, we don't know that. There has been word however that the Cobra will be naturally aspirated over 400 hp...

then again, if they'd say it will have propellerjets, we'd probably also bite into that.

 

Well, I've been told that. I'm not saying it is going to happen, I'm just saying that we don't really know for sure how the SVT will go down.

 

I'll bet it's going to be a $40,000+ car though!

 

Superchargers like this, when installed, how much percentage of extra gas does it use? Could someone give me a rough figure?

 

i'd be interested to know that too. i'd guess it probably won't change a whole lot, unless you're really getting on it pretty often. but your milege will drop anyhow if you're doing that. i think. :scratch:

 

on my buddy's 99 cobra, he averaged 20 mpg. After installing a kenne bell 6psi kit, he had to run 93 octane because of risk of knocking. He was then down to 18 mpg, not a big difference I guess for the extra 90 rwhp.
