Schweeet. DOHC heads for a Cologne V-6. These are off of the European Scorpio 24v V-6 Cossie. And, since these were on the 2.9L version of the Cologne motor they should go on a 4.0L motor relatively easily. You are on your own with the intake manifold and likely some other small items however.

This motor has been discussed on here before, but I think only mkoesel and myself have shown much interest. It would allow you the opportunity build a potentially nasty pony without as much of an insurance penalty. And, if you paid 18 grand for the car you could likely bring a set of these heads over and have the whole show running nicely for a good bit less than Ford wants for an 05 GT. Just a thought.

Oh, the above is assuming that a nice used set of these Cossie heads would actually be as inexpensive as info alludes to.

JL, I think the intake would fit, if the blocks have the same deck height (and I get the impression they do). Getting the Mustang TB to work might be tough though.

That would be even better mk. If you could just bolt the largest part of the Cossie setup right on 4.0L block I would have to give a V-6 Mustang serious consideration myself.

I love the way the Cossie heads look too. The valves look absolutely huge and I have a feeling the 210hp rating for the little 2.9L was in very mild tune. Not to mention the heads have a real quality, hi-po look about the design all around IMO. They almost look mildly ported and polished from the factory to my eye.

Man oh man!

These would probably add a bit to the engine weight, but from what I've seen in another thread, the iron 4.0 V6 is almost 95 lbs lighter than the aluminum V8. The heads look aluminum - are they? Perhaps that could keep the engine weight down.

With less weight on the front wheels, a high winding 6 up front and a decent suspension, a modded V6 Mustang would be a heck of a car ... and a fun sleeper!

For some more specs the Cossie Scorpio was rated at 210hp in Europe. (that would be a bit less here) The 2.9L V-6's bore was 93mm (versus 99mm for the 4.0L) and it's stroke is 72mm (versus 83.8mm for the 4.0L). More than likely just the head and top-end swap to Cossie specs in general should net you about 270hp on the 4.0L block. A set of headers, a cat back exhaust, and minor tweaking should get you pretty close to 300hp. And, this thing would scream for a twin-turbo setup IMHO.
