2011 Lloyd Velourtex Mats vs MCA Premium Mats (with pics)
OK, so I didn't think the "premium" MCA mats were anything special AND I'd kind of like to preserve them for posterity (not because they're not special but because the MCA is fairly limited production.) So I decided to buy the Lloyd velourtex mats really not knowing if they'd be nicer or not.
So they came and the first thing I noticed is my "black" mats aren't black. Of course I didn't really think they were black but I did think dark charcoal was darker. Whatever. I ordered black and they ARE black.
The Lloyd mats use an applique and I believe the MCA mats ALSO use an applique although it's a little nicer in that it has a little texture to it. I just like the tri-bar pony better than just the pony. These mats would rock in the Pony edition Mustang.
Then I noticed how much bigger and more complete the Lloyd mats are. They cover all of the carpet and the driver's mat also has a dead pedal extension with velcro to keep it attached.
They're not so nice that I'll be upset if they get dirty but they're not cheap looking either. All in all, a nice upgrade.
Opinions? (Yeah, I know it's hard to get them here but I'll just go out on a limb...)

And if you look VERY closely on the driver's side, you can see where they failed to take the protective film off the accelerator pedal. I have failed to do it as well but mostly because I want to see how long I can make it last.

Rear mats, David? Um... that's where I put the beer. So, um, no. My rear seat will get very little use, if any, for anything beyond groceries.

Nice, one more thing for me to spend my hard earned money. My mod budget went from $0 to $3,000+ and getting bigger every day thanks to you guys. I joined TMS to get info but nobody warn me about this. I need to see a modiphycologist.

They have "smoke" which is probably much closer. I just didn't realize that "dark charcoal" was so far from black. The charcoal I burn is pretty black. No worries... I can live with 'em.

Just ordered them from EBAY. I wanted the 5.0 on them. Color looks right, and they are pretty thick. I did not get them yet, but I think I'll be happier than the stock junk.

Regarding the contrast between black/smoke, it's not really that bad. I got in this morning and the black meshes nicely with the dash and console and the smoke carpet that's left to look at is really just near the rocker panel and console. That said, if I had it to do over again and paid attention, I probably would have ordered smoke.

I got mine from AutoAnything during a sale with free shipping. I'm good with the black. No idea if you can get samples or not. I'd say check the Lloyd site.

Smoke does look closer, but like Adam, I'd like to know before I buy. After 15 months, I've worn a hole in the driver's side by the go pedal. (Actually wore long before that).

I must be old and have too many other higher priorities in my life . . . but the color of some throw-away floor mats just doesn't seem that important to me. ![Stick Out Tongue](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
To each their own, however, and I can totally respect it. I didn't like Norberd's chrome center caps on his silver wheels... so go figure. LOL!
Should I coordinate my pine tree air freshener or just go with classic green?
