2005-2009 Mustang S-197 In the shop getting 6-gauge MYCOLOR installed

Well I took my torch red GT in to the dealership today to get my instrument panel upgraded to the 6-guage panel with MYCOLOR. I already got the switch assembly from Kevin. I checked with the dealership today and they have the guages ordered and they will be in tomorrow. They're set to be installed Wednesday.

I just hope everything goes smoothly with this. I've already installed my new doorsill plates, vinyl flood mats, and chrome exhaust tips. As soon as this panel goes in I'm going to get the aluminum door handles and Woodview Satin Nickel dash kit installed, along with the silver vents.

In the meantime I'm driving a beat up old Explorer Sport Track. The tires are almost gone and the brakes are terrible. It handles like runaway locomotive. Anyway, hopefully my installation will go smoothly and i'll get my car back Wednesday. I'm already going into withdrawal.

Jared, I'd be interested to know how easily the vents come out and what you plan on doing with the black ones.
I saw pics of the Saleen Mustang and theirs are blcak with an aftermarket IUP dash. I really liked the contrast. Would you be interested in selling yours?

You're right, that contrast does look good. Still, I like the silver vents. I think they come out rather easily. There are two "claw" like clamps on the insides of the vents holding them in. A pair of coat-hangers should do the trick getting them out, from what I've heard. I'd be happy to discuss selling them, though I'm not sure what a fair price would be.

Jared, do you have an estimate on the cost? I too am thinking about getting the 6-gauge cluster with the MYCOLOR. Keep us posted on the outcome, please.

I'm not sure what the labor total will be. The Cluster is like $280 or $290 and I think I paid $35 for the switch assembly from Kevin. I think the labor is going to cost about $200. So when all is said and done, Kevin's original estimate is probably pretty accurate $450 - $600 for parts + labor. It's not cheap, but I want it so I'm willing to pay it.

How much was the IUP option when ordering compared to what you are paying afterwards?

I just ordered the cluster and switch myself. I also ordered the sill plates. I was going to have the dealer install the My Color, but I will probably do the sills. How difficult was that? Do they fit in right over the existing sill?

Your cluster came in next day? Where are you located? The dealer I ordered from said they are on back order...no estimate on time to get...urgghhhh!!!

P.S. Mine is a GT versus V6

Then I don't understand why people didn't order the car with it and save some cash

I tried to order my car with the IUP - well actually I did. My order was kicked back to the dealer as unavailable due to the lawsuit which took how long to settle? My order went from mid-Nov order to being kicked back a month later...back to the drawing board and order list if I wanted to wait for the outcome.

I found a car in stock, unfortunately, I could not find a GT with a 5 speed and IUP in stock in the entire western US for sale. I checked from Michigan west to Calif. I spend 3 weeks faithfully seaching the dealer search for stock (a couple hours everyday and numerous phone calls in addition).

If I coulda, I woulda, bought the My Color with installed in the car.

Yeah, i wanted to get the full IUP but this car was everything I wanted except it only had IUP lite. So I chose to get it now and upgrade the stuff rather than waiting till November or December to receive an 06.

Good luck with the installation...just don't go and put a bunch of silly stripes on it like a bunch of these Shelby wanna be's...your car looks great just the way it is

Do you already have the IUP vents ordered?

Yeah, I already ordered a pair of IUP center dash pieces from Kevin. Each has 2 silver vents on it. Kevin said they were backordered by a couple of weeks, so it will probably be another 10 days before I get them.

Jared,

How was the install on the sill plates? Also what is the build date on your car or when did you get your car? Thanks!
