Yes, and contrary to popular belief, both male and female have white head and tail feathers at maturity.
They're as far south as Central OR this year. Must have learned from the Barred Owl what logger's already knew - that N Spotted Owl is good eatin'!
(So now the FS wants to kill Barred Owls. Me thinks the Spotted Owl has better lobbyists. )
