2015 Mustang GT Intake Manifold Backordered Part Location Help
I have a cracked intake on my 2015 GT and the ford Dealer where the car is at (warrantee) says that they cant locate a new one or used since ford has quit producing them due to a re design. I see intakes available on the web so wondering what crosses over without a trip to the dyno for a tune. I have a stage 2 ford kit ready to install and didnt want the voodo top end intake Thanks for your replys

I Tried Calling Around To Dealers Who Show The Part on the Dealer Locator and {Just Missed one in Portland}. Some of The Dealers I Called Had Them But Would Not Sell Them. Sometimes The Part That Shows in DEALER Inventory is For a Special Order Customer and Other Times The Dealer Simply Want to Keep the Part On Hand For a Potential RETAIL CUSTOMER. When another Dealer Wants To Buy a Part They Usually Sell at Discount to Purchasing Dealer. So They Would Rather Unless it is a Dead Part Sell to Retail Customer.
Now Some Dealers When They Have a Hot Part Will Sell But Ask Retail. When Going through a Dealer List You Often Get Bad Phone Numbers and You Have To Find a Good Number on The Internet. Then Make The Call! It gets frustrating to Counter Guys as it is Time Consuming and You Get Tired of No's But Some Times You Get Lucky if You Keep Plugging at it! Even Offering to Pay Retail to Those who Say They Have it and Don't Want to Sell.
Also Many times The Dealer Has Already Done This, But Only Did the Check at Initial Back Order. You Have to Keep Checking to See if a New Dealer Pops Up With Inventory. It is all about Persistance. Now This Is Talking About Dealer to Dealer Sales Vs Below and Talking About Direct Orders To Fo Mo Co.
Ford Has Changed things a Bit Since I Left But I Got a Couple of Helpful Guys Who Filled in the Blanks. So There are Some Manifolds Out There in Ford Inventory {CORPORATE NOT DEALER} But The Dealer Has To Do A Certain Type Of Order. It Needs To Be on Emergency and Then a COPUS Case Opened. Dealer Should Have your Part on Order in this Manner or They Will Not Recieve It.
When I Had Back Orders Like That. I Would Do What I Called a Direct Emergency Order. I Would Not Order Regular and Then Upgrade. I would Order Emergency Out of the Gate This Puts You Higher Up The Food Chain For Recieving Your Part. So Bottom Line if Part is on Emergency Order and a Copus Case is Opened it Will Speed Up Recieving Part. It is Not Discontinued.
Now Discalimer I am Getting This Information {Second Hand} as I Retired 5 Years ago and Have To Get Information From Others on Certain Procedures But Everything I am Being told Jives With What I Used to Do With Emergency Parts Back in The Day. It Simply had a Terminolgy Change!
So I Would Ask Dealer if This Process Has Been Used. If So It Should Not Be Too Long Till a Part Can Be Recieved! If Not It Is Not Coming!
Again Second Hand Info.
I had Asked For Phone Number So I Could Explain Some Things Better But Did Not Get. So Here Is My Online Advice!
You Might Print This Post Out & Take To Dealer To Explain Better. {CLICK ON THREAD TOOLS} Printable Version
They May Have Already Done this and If So Part Should Be in the Pipeline to Be Released!
You Did Not Say How Long Car Has Been Down.
Ford Part Number FR3Z-9424-N
When I Do Posts Like this I Go Beyond Just Addressing The OP'S Question. I Write it So Others with Similar Backordered Parts Issues Can Benefit.
Obsolete Parts Issues Can Be Also Addressed Using Dealer Parts Locator {OE CONECTION} Works Well With Recently Obsoleted Parts.
I Also Modified Title So Others Could Find Topic Easier!

Let Us Know How it Works Out.
While Talking To A Few Ford Parts Guys and The Good Ones Open Up When You {Speak Ford Parts Verbage} it's Tough To Get a Lot of Parts After The Covid Factor Came In! Some Were Just Grouchy and Said I Can't Sell you The Part. Some Dealerships The Phones Rolled Over & Over Until Finally Hanging Up on me. Thankfully I am Persistant and Got Answers I Needed To Help! Some Had Notes on the Locator Sites that They WOULD NOT SELL ANY B/O Manifolds Period! Crazy World Out There!
One Made The Comment I Got Out at The Right Time! After Telling Him I Retired 5 Years Ago. Probably Yes But Finding Parts Was My Thing!
It Was Great To Get a Solution I Was Not Initially Looking For By Others I Called Trying to Put Hands on a Dealer Stocked Part. By Their Willingness to Share I Found The Direct Approch was a Better Fit Than Chasing The Dealer Stocked Part.
When You Get That Beast Running Come Back And Post Some Pics and Share Your Story about the Good Times!
My New Term PARTS INTERVENTION at Play Again. I will Hope for a Rapid Parts Release For You!
Hopefully Others With Similar Issues Will Find Your Topic and Your Asking For Help Here will Benefit Others!

Awake!
Got An Email From a GT Owner With an Intake on B/O For 3 Months Now. Advised Checking To Be Sure The COPUS Process was in Play. I Wonder if it Worked out for The OP. It Would Be Interesting to Know! Meanwhile Pulled out of Introductions and Put In Service & Repair Section with a Sticky. I Hope it Helps Others!
