1978 Mustang II - Mach 1

it has a 302 V8 with 78k on it
4 spd manual

according to him it runs good
here are some links to pics

the question is what do you think this is worth assuming it runs ok
he is asking $2500 and i wanna know how accurate this is
and also how hard are parts to get for a car this old when it does break

$2500 isnt bad. i;d ****** it up. you could get a fox, but it might cost more (deppending on loication) but a II is waaaay more unique.

PS where u live? if yoou dont takes it i will

Parts are a lot harder to get than for a fox.
This place usually has working used, or new-old-stock stuff.

I like the color.

9er i live in MA
but the car is in Minnesota (sp?)

i do need a car that will work as a daily driver tho
so im not so sure the 78 mach 1 will be the best car for me
these cars are alot heavier than foxes right? which would mean worse gas mileage which is bad for me
and it is a 27 year old car so things are bound to break?, i cant afford that

in your opinion should i buy this car?

they arent all that much heavier. keep in mind, 74-78 was the "economy car" stage of the Mustangs life. dont confuse these machs with the machs of the 60s. THOSE were gas hogging ***** (thats almost a bad thing )
it all depends on your impression after you go see it, hear it run, etc.
too bad its across the country, i love the car
if you go visit it and there is nothing wrong with it, then i say go for it.
also, foxes are more likely to have been abused than IIs.

lemme know how it goes!

PS theres a guy here his name is 78mach or something like that. ask him and other II owners about the mileage of a mustang II w/ a 302. they can prolly help more than me...seeing as i dont quite have my car (darn lack of disposable income!)

Why would anyone ruin the car with an after market sun roof. Hey don't get me wrong, it would not stop anyone from buying it but, a sunroof?

If you want to restore a Mustang II to mint condition, then You would be better off trying to find one in better condition. There are a couple on ebay that look like all they need is paint and seat upholstry. Things to look for on II's are 1. Back Bumper condition: these always rust out and the urethane splits. 2. interior trim: seats and carpet can be bought, trim like the dash pad, gauges, door and interior panels cannot. 3. Rust: like anycar rust is a huge problem, but with a II its even worse trying to find good replacement panels.

If you want to do a modified car then this one might be an ok donor, but the cost to restore this II to original condition would be outragous. and that aftermarket sun roof looks real tacky. There are 2 yellow Mustang II Mach 1's with t tops on ebay right now, I would say either of those would be much better deals, and a lot less work.

With the right ones its worth it though, here's my 2 II's:

From his post I think he wants a driver.
I wouldn't suggest a II as a driver unless you know for sure the car is mechanically sound.
Judging from the interior condition I would say this one is not.

Maybe you could switch cars with 78Mach1

one more thing

i found a 78 cobra with a 302 and 4-spd
62k original miles
interior looks great but it needs a paint job which doesnt really bother me
it also has a dent in the passengers fender which i will post a pic of after i eat
this car is much closer to me so i can actually go look at it
he wants $2500 OBO
i think if i drive the 8 hours there i can get it for $2,000

yes i am looking for something to drive daily but i wanna do it in style :-p

edit: here are the pics i have:
