I took the Mustang out today for a couple of errands, one of them being going to the car wash ... ended up just doing the hose-off thing in a self-service bay, but while doing that I noticed a nice 1-1.5" wide impact spot in the windshield under the passenger side wiper blade ... an hour later a foot-long crack had developed ... not sure how that impact spot got there, I haven't driven the car in a couple of days and the last time I heard a rock hit the w/shield while driving it wasn't loud enough to make me think that damage had occurred ...
I hate to think that a neighbor was nice enough to do this ... I now have an appointment for tomorrow morning to have a new windshield installed ... 2 hours of my life I won't get back ... I could do something a lot more productive than sit in the waiting room of a glass company, and worry about how the job will turn out ...

Noooo! That has to hurt, Gabe. I do want to thank you for reminding me to get mine fixed ASAP.
... Deysha I had forgotten about one side benefit to having a windshield replaced ... the new windshield is CLEAN !!! ... that's one SUPER way of getting rid of that curved line of dirt at the top of the windshield that doesn't seem like will ever get clean, no matter what I use on it ... LOL Not cool to hear from the glass tech that it looked like it was a BB shot that might've caused the damage to the windshield ... He did a great job though. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've gone to the same place in Wakefield, MA< and I've never had a problem :) https://themustangsource.com/attachm...1&d=1356032354 |
I clay bar my windshield after I'm finished with the car. I've never heard of anyone doing this, but I can't see it being bad. It really cleans up the glass and makes it nice and clear again. Also, the wipers seem to work better after.
