2020 Ford Mustang GT500 news
Super excited for the new 2020 Shelby GT500. It's apparently going to have around 720 horsepower, 650 ft lbs of torque, and max engine speed of 7500 RPM. However, due to curb weight, the max speed may be under 200 mph.
I was hoping it would be released in 2019, but it's starting to seem Ford will be releasing in 2020 instead. What do you guys think? |
Been hanging on for the release announcement a few years now... Starting to feel like an endless tease. Hope it lives up to the hype.
|
Ford is late to the game, & if those specs are correct, showing up a little light on the hp !!
. |
I've been reading the GT500 'might' weigh around 4400 lbs. Too much for me. That is as much as a fat *** Challenger :(
|
Month old thread & still no REAL news from Ford !!!
. |
Wow! That is a lot of Ford.
Hoping to hear some news from them soon. Anyone attending the LA Auto Show tomorrow? |

Ordered one a month ago - should be in in March, also ordered a C8 but that won't be in until late July 2020 - Chevrolet is ridiculous on this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH49n-4zuIc ha, that was a great episode! He was talking prices around 71k and up. I believe it's north of 100k in reality (up here in Canada it will be for sure) |

I really hope that the volumes for the 5.2l engine between the GT350 and GT500 justify an automated assembly process instead of hand building. This would help with the quality of the build a lot.

Lots of people with replacement engines on the S500 Mustang forum. I believe it's the same engine, only supercharged and not a flat plane crank?? |
I think you are pretty much right on that one Tony. Sounds like a lot of the early builds were iffy, but heard they had the issues pretty well cooked out in the 18+. Heard anything different?
Be nice if they offered a slightly lower HP version of that in the GT. Just to justify the development and automated build process... |

Interesting you say that, I have seen more than one GT350 sitting in my dealers service lot...for months on end, awaiting a new engine.
It's a shame. So,...what happens then?? You still make monthly payments?? I would tell Ford, I'm not making any payments till I have my car back and in working order. Imagine making payments on a car that sits in the dealership's workshop floor/lot??? |
