Hopefully, this is just an estimation according to the Ford press release and not the confirmed HP rating for the actual production model due to arrive by 2019. I'm hoping the production version will be closer to at least 800HP in order for the upcoming GT500 to be really considered as the Dodge Demon killer
Hey Rocky! Hope all is well bud.

Yes, the Demon may have higher HP and TQ numbers, but just that doesn't win races. Suspension, weight and weight distribution comes to mind as well. (Other things as well, but not going too deep into it.)
And remember,........the new GT500 is "AT LEAST" 700HP. So, it's over 700HP. I'm guessing around 740-750HP.

Hey there Tony! Everything is all well my friend. There just hasn't been much activity on the forums in a while, as most of us here on the east coast up north have our rides in storage during the winter lol. Anyway, I totally agree that just higher HP/TQ numbers alone don't win races, but rather a combination of HP/TQ along with suspension, weight, and weight distribution are all important factors as well just as you said. I also agree with you regarding the upcoming '19" GT500 having between 740-750HP which IMO should be just enough to either match or top the Hellcat/Demon due to the overall lighter weight and suspension of the "19" GT500

Based on that teaser shot, I'd guess 743 lb-ft torque.

From what I've seen supercharged 5.0's put out for torque, I doubt that number, but I'd love it if it were true
And yes, I know it's a 5.2 and not a 5.0 ..... here's hoping the extra .2 makes a big difference in torque production!

AWESOME!!!
I knew it would have an automatic option. All the others, (Z06, ZR1, etc.), have an automatic option, it would have been foolish for Ford not to have that. I just hope it's the 10 speed automatic. Either way, it's probably gonna be bad ***!! lol

When's the reveal though?!?!

Another great find Gabe. Let's just hope the 772 hp according to motor authority news is accurate? if it is, IMO I see no reason why the "19" GT500 can't match or top the Hellcat/Demon, as the GT500 will have the advantage with less weight and smaller overall size going for it

Tony, I also hope the upcoming "19" GT500 has the 10-speed automatic as well. Otherwise why even bother offering an automatic option for the GT500, to begin with

I know I'm a little late to the game here, but I gotta get this in soon. Rocky, go ahead, dig up one of those cans full of money you have in the back yard, and buy you one of these new 500's. When you do you can gift that pretty little red 197 to me. You know I will take good care of that beauty, because that's the kind of guy I am.

Jim, once the greedy stealerships add their ADM's, my guess is the upcoming "19" GT500 will cost between 90k-100k+ With my luck, it would take an entire football field filled with cans of money before I could ever consider buying one of those new 500's. However, if I were able to afford one, I wouldn't have a problem with gifting my "06" GT to you, as I know you would most definitely take very good care of her to say the very least

And sadly some chump will pay the price. IMO the best of the ADM's was the PT Cruiser. Can you imagine someone paying a ADM for a cotton pickin' Chrysler.

BTW, I have my garage ready. You can po' mouth, but we all know you got the dough for that 500.

I thought the next GT500 was a 5.2L twin turbo , i remember seeing it somewhere and i thought to myself that people arent going to like the turbo noise. Also it will be "one of those cars i can`t afford" which sucks , but 100,000 for it and you can get a 67 eleanor for around the same price, I know the performance is largely different but you just can`t beat how those classic mustangs look .: Drools :. However if we trade in our Mustangs the price of that GT500 would be almost reachable lol

I thought the next GT500 was also going to include a twin turbo 5.2L as well, but Ford decided on the 5.2L minus the flat plane crank with a supercharger instead. Despite being over 700+HP, I'd much rather spend 100k on an original 67-68 Shelby GT500KR that will hold and continue to appreciate in value and just as you mentioned in your post, you can't beat the classic Mustang look

Should be interesting.
Not sure, but I think it's close to 800HP. Not sure about transmissions yet. I hear 2 different things.

I'm not sold on the look yet.
Latest thing I heard on transmission was that it might be the 10-spd auto only.
But that was a Facebook group. Don't believe anything until Ford announces details.
Looking forward to that day.
