It seems that the 2015 in any flavor will remind us of why so many of us prefer the styling of the S197.

Don't misunderstand me....I think the 2015 is a very good looking Mustang both cosmetically and in the tech sense. And I hope Ford exceeds sales expectations. They will indeed be very popular no doubt, and hopefully a true American built BMW killer.

But I want my Mustang to look like a Mustang. That's just my personal opinion.

Your mileage may vary.

Tom

Something seems off about this photoshop/render whatever it may be. Seems really WIDE to me.

I agree, this makes my recent 14 gt purchase that much easier to handle. You would think they would realize how camaro-ized that rendering is

I beg to differ.
I think Saleen went the 'safe route'
They had 3 possible avenues to go down.

A) Something to compliment the current design
B) Something completely different,
C) Something that harkens back to the past.
Judging from this one pic, they chose 'C'.

They went with an old styling reminiscent of the 10-12 style because the '15 is so different, that to design something that would work with the vehicle as a whole would be a BIG change for them.

I'll be interested to see how they tackle the rest of the car, so my opinion could change. But based on the front styling, that's how I see it right now.

Wow majority of people on here are harsh. Let me jump on. Yes, it will make so many of the S197 owners prefer the S197 styling because majority of you will be in denial of the new stang and not give it true credit. Mainly because it will be leaps ahead of the S197 in all aspects. Time will tell.

Apologies if I sounded harsh. My intent was to be diplomatic and fair. I've been quite clear from this and other posts that I think the 2015 is a very good looking automobile. But I prefer the appearance of what will now become modern old school.

Many Mustang owners feel the way I do. And many folks will flock to the S550.

It's all good.

To quote the dude... "That's just like, your opinion, man"

I would be lying if I said I didn't have some 2015 envy. That being said, it's more of the performance aspect. I do not admire it from the outside like I do the S197. I like that ford made a new move, I don't like that the move went more towards the rest of the lineup and did not keep the mustang a mustang (100% opinion). Leaps ahead would be accurate for about half the car, many of us would also agree the styling does not agree with the mustang we have grown to know and love.

What you cannot deny is how uncannily similar that Saleen and a camaro are. It's kind of gross. That's what this thread is about... The regular 2015s are fine, that is too close.

I agree, the thread is about the new Saleen.

I would imagine that Saleen has a couple, or maybe just one, drafter(s) that have been working on this NON-STOP. I mean, I used to doodle cars, one after another in "Study-Hall," and If I did one in an hour, how many could they do in months!? They must have other plans that look better. Why they chose this one befuddles me.

The 94-98 body style one was sleek and smooth, different.
The 99-04 body style one was "edgy" and more funtional looking, nothing else like it.
The 05-14 body stlyes, IMO, went back to sleek and smooth.

But all looked different than anything else out there, muscle wise.

I feel like this falls into line with the ZL1, Z28, '12 Boss LS, SRT & R/T, and GT500... (Front wise only). It disappears in the crowd, IMO.

Harsh because I/we don't agree with you? LMAO and grow some thicker skin! I'm not in that majority I love the new '15 just not the Saleen look. I will need to see the whole car before I know for sure. And once again it's just my opinion. :-)

Flame suit on:
The Saleen design enhancements only amplifiy just how much the 2015 are originally lacking from get go.

Saleen has never had any problem taking stock Ford and transforming it into a thing of beauty and functionality. If this is the final render, then the design team struggled. Lets just accept that.

I also mentioned Phil Frank. He is the designer of the past Saleen mustangs aesthetics. He also designed the S7 aesthetic. It's obvious his hand was not involved in this.

I'm not saying Saleen is polishing a turd....but maybe...

Also, No 10-12 owner is jealous of the newer model either. You can have U2 Pop. I'll stick with The Joshua Tree. Lol

Harsh in regards to the 2015 Mustang. I'm also looking forward to what the entire car looks like.

I can't speak for everyone and frankly neither should you. For me the choice was either wait for the 2015 to come out or go ahead and get a 2014. When I saw the 2015 Mustang revealed I knew that for me the choice was to get a 2014 so I did. I liked everything about the 2015 except for the look from head on. The front end is just bad design, period. If you look at it from a 3/4 angle it looks okay because you can't really discern how out of proportion the headlamp to grill aspect is. From head on, however, or any angle where you can see both the headlamps and the grill the car is just not a good design. Look at that red one at the top of the page and tell me honestly if you think those headlamps work with that grill? Its bad symmetry and it just looks awful. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that but there are some basic aspects of design that will attract the human eye and this front end is not one of them. I fully expect that the 2015 is going to be a great performer or at least a better performer than the S197 is. I have no problem with that and for me it was never about which car was going to perform better because either way both cars would be a better performer than most cars on the street. If I was really all that concerned about performance I would just buy a stripped down model and go aftermarket with it and turn it into a beast. I used to think that I was in the minority with my point of view about the front end but in the months since the car has been revealed I have more and more friends who aren't even Mustang owners or Mustang fans who are saying the same thing, they don't like the front end.

Saleen Teases new Mustang

It should come as no surprise that with more than two decades of experience in beefing up Mustangs, Saleen would be unleashing its own spin on the new Ford pony car.

After all, the performance company has played a vital role in the popularity of Mustangs and will likely continue that legacy for many years to come.

To help build up the anticipation for their high-performance version of the model, the 2015 S302 Mustang, Saleen has released a photo showcasing the front fascia of the car.

From the scooped hood to the blacked-out grille, it features a lot of those unique details we’ve come to expect from Saleen, which we're certain will also carry over into the custom model’s performance attributes.

Read the rest on The Mustang Source homepage.

I might find myself in a 14GT which I will be more than completely happy with. I am just reserving my decision until I see it in person and drive it! If it's anything like the 05 it might take a month or so to get a test drive!
