Ordered one, now what?
I have never ordered a new car before, having always bought new cars off the lot. The sales guy told me he would get a confirmation from Ford that the order was accepted. What information will be available as the order progresses if any? Will I know when it has been built, shipped etc?

I'm going through the same thing at the moment .
1. Get The vehicle order confirmation from the dealer if you already haven't done that.
2. After the dealer places the order get the DORA form from him that should have a partial VIN number.
3. You will have to wait for confirmation of the build date either from your dealer or you can get some assistance on this site. See Deysha
If you just placed an order, you are probably looking at late 1st or early 2nd quarter 2016 delivery. I placed my order August 1st and my build date looks like the 1st week of December, the dealer should take delivery within 30 to 40 days after your build date.

I ordered mine at the beginning of 2013 and you can see in my signature line how it progressed. Mine took a total of 52 days from order to the day I took delivery.

Follow up with ur salesperson heres whats going to happen:
The order is sent to fords order bank, give it 2 weeks
Once ur order is pulled by the plant, the car will be assigned a vin. Thats the week the car will be built
Your salesperson will then be able track the progress such as, "in production", "waiting for shipment","station names"

The waiting is the worst part! Hope you see it before February... Heard there is a very long wait for these. But, I am jealous. I want one!

I have received the DORA and a partial Vin. Only took a few days for that. Hopefully the rest of the process will go quickly too!

I ordered my 2013 in March of 2012 at the dealer. Regional rep held the car because I was a second allocation for my dealer until all the cars in her region received their first allocation.
Didn't get my car till December 28, 2012.
