Placed my order for a 50th anniversary today

I talked to my dealer last week about the 50th anniv car. Of course, they don't have much info yet, but he did confirm they have one allocated. It took him a week to call me back. I bought my Boss from him as well as an MKS, and I use their service department, so I'm a good customer. He's stuck between selling a car he can really make some money on and trying to take care of a good customer. He came up with $2000 over MSRP, which is probably fair. I told him I would take the car unless MSRP turned out to be some insane number.

It's a Kona Blue automatic.

I'm keeping my Boss. It's her car. She's selling her SLK to buy this car.

$2K over invoice for some badges ... ouch.

I hope your not getting rid of the Boss ....

I'm thinking these Mustangs are going to cost a lot. Only 1964 going to be made?

Thanks for posting those pictures. Those are some seriously beautiful photos. The blue really makes this car pop. I loved Ruby Red for my 2014, but I think this Blue color is the 2015's "True Color" after seeing those shots.

Do you guys expect this car to really hold it's value? Cool car for sure, but $2k above sticker for a few cosmetic bits? I have a feeling it won't hold value much better than any other '15. Maybe a little, but history shows that limited production cars with increased performance hold premium values, while badges and cosmetic packages don't.

Cool car regardless, congrats!

>>shrugs<< I don't know if the OP plans on keeping the car or will be looking for something else down the road but in the case of the former does it really matter?

As for the price of early admission 2k over MSRP isn't bad, In my AO somebody paid 90k to be the first to own a Plymouth Prowler. Not to mention all the rubes who paid 30-40k over MSRP for the 07 GT500.

Which reminds me, one of the local dealers is getting a Z/28, 1 of 500 made this year. I can't wait to see the ADM on that - my guess is a bare minimum of 10k over MSRP and I wouldn't be surprised if they brazenly ask for near or 100k for the car.

The 50th is more than just badges, although that will be what most people see. It will be the only Mustang available with both the GT Performance Package and an automatic. The louvered quarter windows will also be specific. Now whether it holds it's value on down the road, who knows.

I wouldn't count on anything holding it's value - these are cars after all, and all cars depreciate. I'd just count on enjoying a beautiful car. You'll know you've gotten your money's worth every time you drive it and smile.

I don't see it (LE) holding or going up in value after the 1st year.

The GT350, if it's limited to around 2K units, would have a better chance of holding or even go up in value-->IMO.

Debbie is like me in that she likes a unique car, so we'll enjoy driving it and having fun. We don't intend on selling it for a long time, so if it holds it's value, that's a bonus, but we're not buying it for that reason.

She's never been one to want to take a car to a car show, but she did mention that now I can take the Boss and she can take the 50th and we can park them side by side. That will be fun, too.

I will say, that aside from the corral grille which IMO seems like a V6 grille that most people would rather ditch for a corral-less grille, it's a really nice looking car…those quarter windows are ultra cool and you bet there will be threads in time asking about retrofitting those into the regular GTs.

Enjoy the ride.
