Adam ! There's really nothing to debate, as historical facts speak for themselves and your exactly right.. Therefore Ford would not make the mistake in naming the 2015 as the 50th anniversary model as a direct result

Best way to look at it is.. Just go by the model year of the original launch date and not the calender year lol.

YW Mark ! I think what really confuses folks is when Ford has used the 25th, 35th, and 45th anniversary editions, this is what mathematically throws the timeline off and causes the confusion..

yup, my 2004 Mach1 was a 40th anniversary, so 2015 being 50th did not compute

I always laugh at these threads about dealers ripping people off. To buy or not to buy is YOUR decision. If you don't like the deal, tell them and walk out. It took me a week to buy my 2011 and six phone calls back and forth with the dealer. We finally agreed and I bought the car. In several instances, I have just walked out and gone to another dealer. Car buying is a very emotional activity and the dealers know it.
As far as dealer mark ups go, the sky is the limit, until someone says, no way. In some cases you can wait and the price will slowly creep down. In other cases, not. I saw a Bullit on a dealers WEB page, I believe in Nebraska, and it was still there two years later, at full sticker!
As for the 50th LE. I think we all knew the price would be bumped with ADM's. But, again these are not really Limited Editions. They are Mustangs with a package and number plate. A real collectible in 50 or 60 years, if placed in an air tight bag. But for most of us, it was a "nice to have" car, not an investment. Just my .02

I just went to their page and looked at the car. Nice, but not $62K nice. Sorry. I am sure someone will pay it or they will end up "storing" it as some dealers like to do. The interior really looks no different then the non-LE cars, with the exception of the 50th notations and the color. Really not enough difference in the car itself to justify that price, LE or not, unless you are ten years old and plan to store it for 50 years

If I were gonna pay $10k, $15k, or $20k over sticker for a car it **** well better be faster than any other model that company makes.
Not a Just another GT with a number and some appearance mods.
Shame on you Ford. You could have at least given it a tune with some more horsepower.
1964 mustangs just as slow as all the other 2015 mustangs made this year.

It's not Ford fault, it's the greedy dealers. I know there are many dealers that do not do markups, ever. The only way the 50ths will be worth the dealer markup is if you plan to keep it for 25+ years as a collector, as these cars are documented as the first run of the 50th.
That said and outside of that variable, there is zero reason to pay the dealer markup, much less consider purchasing a 50th anniversary GT.

Respectfully I disagree ! Rather than Ford putting limits as to how far certain dealers can add ADM markups, they simply let them do whatever they please..
Therefore Ford is just as much at fault as their dealership are

I don't think Ford is to blame here. Ford simply sells a product to a dealership and suggests a MSRP (as in Manufacturer SUGGESTED Retail Price) That covers the price of materials and labor for the car. I agree if you want Ford to limit how high the dealerships can charge, then they would also have to limit how low the price can go.
The dealerships are simply playing the game of supply and demand. There is a high demand for a car of which there is A low supply. They can get away with charging an extra 20 or 25k because people are willing to pay that price. I think charging that much goes along the lines of price gouging (though I know that by definition it is not), but as long as people will pay that price , dealerships will charge it. The buyers are at just as much fault for paying for it.

I'm not really arguing about the dealer
With this current business model that's just the way it is
I'm complaining about Ford rebadging a plain GT and giving them limited numbers and trying to pass it off as an LE. It's stupid. It's a half asses effort. Not even half ***. Quarter ***. An LE should be better than a run of the mill GT. The Boss was. And that was with more numbers.

Gary ! I've been agreeing with your post because I happen to feel the same way..
Other than the performance package w/auto trans and different trim/badges ect. How does this car perform any better, faster over a standard GT ?
Well it doesn't and as you also mentioned in a previous post, despite the total of 1964 units.. IMO this still isn't enough for being considered as a collectible which is exactly why I cannot see paying even 10k above MSRP as far as I'm concerned..

My local dealer has one just like the one Gary posted. It was bought by one of the (3 or 4 people) owners of the dealership. I sat in it, it feels 'high quality'

I'm sure it won't take very long for aftermarket companies like SilverHorse Racing and Classic Designs Concepts to come out with them..
And of course Ford isn't going to sell them
