Thoughts on the 2018?

I missed the auto show in NYC so I haven't seen one up close and personal, but I'm really liking the refresh that I've been seeing in photos. It took me awhile to get on board with the S550 initially but grew to like it and I came close to trading my 2014 GT 'vert on a DIB 2016 'vert last year. I'm glad I waited.

I'm anxious to see an Orange Fury convertible in real time. Deep Crimson Metallic might be interesting, and Kona Blue and Race Red have always been favorites. Once more is known I'm giving thought to possibly ordering one at the end of this year so that I'd have it for the 2018 car season.

What do you folks thing of the new styling?

I like it a lot. I think it addresses one of the things that bothered me a bit about the 15 is the way the hood meets the bumper. And I love the 15, but I think the GT350 and 18 slope looks way more aggressive.
Looking forward to the digital screen and the active exhaust too.

Sounds more like the 18s will be available towards the tail end of summer or into Oct/Nov.

The same thing occurred when the S550 hit the dealer lots in the fall of 2014. I can't understand that, considering car season is over for much of the country in the Autumn. And pretty much all of the tooling is already in place for 2018, unlike the S197 to S550 transition, but that's a small nit to pick I guess. It hasn't hurt Ford at all giving the success of Gen6.

I'm anxious to crunch numbers once more is known.

Yeah, no sense investing in new socks and shoes until I get more facts on the '18. A lot of folks on the S550 forum don't like the new nose. I dig it. But the pulsating start button seems a bit gimicky. I'm interested in hearing the interactive exhaust. Wheel options should be fun....I understand there are 12 styles, some of them stand-alone.

Hope to see ya tonite to get your thoughts.

I like it minus the front end. I don't like the hood vents either.
Roush is almost done with the 2018 RS3. I'm looking forward to what that looks like.

I find the 2018s to have corrected the styling problems of the 2015. Whatever it was that is, I couldn't place it but I knew I didn't like it. I drove a Fusion (heh) with the digital dash and felt it was a big "so what".

So really the best features of the 2018 is that it has the technical refinement of the s550, has available magnetorheological dampers, and isn't too ugly.

I still wish they looked like the late S197 though. I absolutely love that design.

hahaha, I love this comment. It isn't too ugly. That's probably the best feature of the '18 Mustang GT.

I was being a little tongue in cheek. But you get it though right? I want the IRS but the previous car was unacceptable. I still don't love the new design but it's "acceptable".

I've heard from a couple of sources at Roush that there will be no 2018 Roush Stage 3 cars produced. Since the 2018 Mustang will come out so late in the year, Roush will not have time to Mod the 2018 and get it CARB certified in time to sell...Roush will skip 2018 and get ready for 2019 certification and sale.

I too like the S550's and the 2018 update is a positive. The front looks more aggressive, but the headlights look strange, is that a brake cooling vent? I am sure it will grow on me. I need to see it in person. But I do like the side and rear of it. The minor changes to those 3 sides, I see as improvements and definately nothing that breaks it.

I do like the addition of the magna-ride option & dash instrument update. 10 speed auto is interesting. Sad that they are dropping the V6, but without performance options it was doomed to fail. Who knows this could be a sign that an eco-boost 6 is coming?

Still waiting for the GT500, and it will be interesting what Roush does to their mods.

Are you sure???
I've seen two videos on Facebook now stating Roush is working on the 2018 Roush Stage 3. The latest one stating it will be revealed soon.

Only time will tell, but from what I've been told Roush will only produce suspension and body mods to the 2018...no engine mods/upgrades because of the testing required to meet CARB requirements.
