Strut Tower Brace Problem

So I was installing my ford racing strut tower brace and as I was torquing down one of the bolts, it broke the bolt and the screw part right in half. If someone has had this problem or knows what to do please help me on what I should do.

What value were you torquing them to?

You'll probably need a new strut mount.

I was doing it at 20 pounds but I was doing it on the side that was all painted so it was harder to get it all the way through

Why don't you post a picture of the problem area. That would help us figure out a work around for you. It may be as simple as removing the stud remnant, and installing a new one. The studs aren't part of the Strut mounting are they?

They get torqued in inch lbs. Were you using foot lbs?
