yeah it sounds like an idle issue . . . I'd also start by cleaning the throttle body, and then do the "idle re-learn procedure" if the the throttle body cleaning does not help
I think there are other posts on here with the correct and complete details of the idle re-learn procedure, but it goes something like this:
1) disconnect the battery to clear the memory -- I think a couple minutes is probably long enough, but leave it disconnected for at least 20 minutes to make sure
2) start the car from cold, and let it idle while it warms up
3) after it warms up or after about 10 minutes (I am not sure of the details here) turn the A/C on and let it idle with the A/C on for a while
that's the gist of it -- I am not sure of the time required so feel free to search for the other threads that have that detail

Yep, probably all it needs. But... my procedure I learned is different... Mind if I post it and y'all can kibitz/debate/point and laugh at me?
1) Disconnect negative terminal at battery.
2) While battery disconnected, do the throttle body cleaning, because that'll do the unlearning as you take that time cleaning. And the mass air sensor too.
3) Reconnect battery.
4) Turn key on, do not start, slowly depress accelerator pedal to the floor before 5 seconds, release.
5) Relearn windows: Depress and hold window switch in down position until window is down, then 3 seconds after that, release. Repeat for each door, repeat for up position each door.
6) Finally, go drive for 10 miles in regular, not stop and go, not highway speed traffic. Some stops at lights are fine. Don't rabbit shot from the stop. Normal driving. I do 5 miles A/C off, 5 miles A/C on.
Car's relearned and should be happy.

So let me have it. I'm wrong somewhere, aren't I?

that sounds even better to me . . . I think I would add the "idle relearn" between steps 5 and 6 -- if I remember correctly, the key thing is to let it idle for a while; both cold and warm; with and without A/C; so it can figure out how to keep itself under control
