Pro or cons for the 5.0 engine shroud in the Summer?

Have a 2015 GT 5.0 PP MT 6. Our Summers here are in the 90+ range. I realize the PP option gives a larger radiator but would removing the engine shroud during the Summer help to keep the engine cooler and help keep down the under hood temps?

I say no. I believe the shroud exists to enhance airflow into the radiator and removing it would reduce the radiator's effectiveness.

I can't remember the exact details but the shroud and the heat extractors have a combination aerodynamic and cooling purpose. Maybe someone can elaborate or correct me.

By the way I took my 2014 through Arizona to Vegas last summer which was well above 90 and had no cooling issues whatsoever. I have a track pack car.

OP are you talking about the radiator cover or engine cover?

Having the cover on or off will not affect the underhood temps either way.

Random but my engine gets hot as hell. I'm in the habit of airing the hood out in the garage after work everyday. Normal?

Saves weight and increases horsepower! Engine cover removal is the new air silencer mod!

Okay, I might be showing my age there but I swear it was a thing on the old fox body car.

Everybody has their own version of crazy, look at me, I like to wash the stickers off the engine! Well slowly, only took me six years to wash the decals off the the Shelby's radiator cover.

Mine is more paranoia about aiding potential peeling hood paint. Lol

Just take the hood and the front bumper cover off. That will take care of your temp issues and it will make it look better

I live in Las Vegas. Daily drive my 2011 GT. Over 100 degrees here for three straight hot summer months. Use the A/C. Sure, things get hot, what would you expect? No troubles, no worries. However, when tracking the car, I do open the hood between sessions to allow quicker cool-down (not sure if it's effective, but I still do it).
