Paint chipping

Kind of discussed on another thread briefly but... Has anyone had any significant paint chips on the body just in front of the rear wheels? It's not significant enough to show up in pics yet but I was just wondering if anyone else has issues. Thought about having that portion of the vehicle wrapped with the 3m clear paint protection. Oddly enough I've only had one chip on the hood. The rest are in the aforementioned areas.

Just to add, I've never had this issue on previous models.

Got a track pack car? The soft tire compounds and the shape of the front wheel wells can cause this.

I have a 14 GT Track Pack. To handle this condition I got the Jaeger Brothers front mud flaps and 3m film on the bottom of the doors (below the scoop line). The 3m film has evidence of some significant impact.

Since the 3m film is basically a rectangular piece with very little shaping required it wasn't that expensive. Maybe $100 per door on top of the other film I had done.

3rd week and I have at least 4 Rock chips and a small dent in the hood. Bought 3m for headlights, fog lamps so far. Looking at the 3m for entire front scoop and front of hood. Lower doors as mentioned is a good idea as well.

I need to look into that. I'm surprised by how weak the new fords are painted these days. I had both a 2010 Challenger and 2014 Camaro and have never had this issue of rock chips just from day to day driving. You would think 45000 would buy you some quality these days! 😉. I absolutely love my car so I need to get it some protection!

Wow another person with same problem. I have been fighting with ford over this. Denied my warrenty claim to repaint. Said it is from "outside source". Coming off front tire. My 15 has 5000 miles on it. Looks like **** already. I believe it's wide body design. Ford needs to beef up paint in this area or clear film it

Amel. You need to put it in front of them. Put in a claim so it is documented. Ford so far is saying not there problem. My feeling is design. All wide body cars have this problem. For needs to beef up paint / clear in these areas. The response I got from ford was there not seeing a wide spread problem. My feeling is if everyone complains and puts in claim, ford will have to admit there's an issue and fix all of our cars. I'm not in mood to fight as well but I didn't spend 45 grand to have my car look like this in 6 months. What's it going to look like in 4 years. I know this has to be a wide spread problem. I look at every mustang in the parking lots and I see it on every 2015. Just don't think everyone looking for it or it's not obvious on certain colors. I'm trying to get ford to address this for all of us owners. I need all help I can get. Going to be hard to do just by myself

Where exactly is the best place to protect? I am still waiting to take delivery on my car and would like to get it protected on day one. Pics would be helpful. Thanks.

There's a picture in my original post. It's behind front wheel along the rocker panel and from door jam in front of rear tire to middle of rear fender

Aright I'll put a claim in with some photos to see if I can get them to do anything about it.

I did. But got now where. Submitted claim twice. Reviewed twice by ford and denied again. Or call ford customer service 18003923673. They will deny it as well but it's documented claim and if enough people have this problem and report it , maybe ford will help us out. Or if recall or something happens. My opinion of ford right now is they don't care about there consumers complains and problems.

My dealership is absolutely terrible. I'll just file it online with ford. My car already had an issue brand new off the line with rail dust. I also already had my panels adjusted and now my front breaks are squeaking. I love my car, but for 45000 bucks I shouldn't have all these issues already.

I dont see how you guys are going to get anywhere trying to get Ford to fix it, as they never will. Because realistically this is an external cause of damage " environmental" and not a defect from the factory. Same as driving behind a dump truck and getting hammered with sand and rocks flying behind it, or driving on highway and its just question of when you get hit. I know it sucks and best action is to give Ford enough bad press online for anything to be done, as it looks like the cars body design makes it prone to rocks being thrown down to the back, hitting the quarter panel and chipping it. We will see, maybe more people will show up with the same problem, for now I dont see enough people complaining to know if this is a real issue, or issue of circumstance in specific environment, or maybe type of tires used, width of tires.

Does jaeger make the front flaps for the 15s yet?

I know this car is different than my 13. But it sure does help and to me they are barely noticeable.

Hyperdrive. I agree ford won't fix this but. I agree new body style is part of issue. Front tires are cause. My argument is that my front bumber/ hood is pristine, behind my rear tires perfect condition, along doors not a scratch. But rear fender flare looks like it was hit by a shot gun. Car looks like has 100,000 miles on it. I think ford needs to beef up paint / clear in this are. To me normal road driving should not have this affect on paint so soon. If I were beating the crap out of this car,?the rest of it should be damaged as well. I found small front mud flaps on American muscle website. Just put them on. They don't really look that bad and if the help so be it. Ford wants 2000.00 to repaint my quarters. I believe this issue will become more and more evident the longer these cars are on road. U can hear stuff hitting the quarters just driving on highway. For 45 grand I expect better quality paint job or factory clear membrane on that area.
