MT82 Backorder???
MT82 Backorder???
Does anyone know how long it is taking to get a new MT82 transmission from ford right now? The website says on backorder. Last night I was driving and noticed I no longer had 5th gear lmao, it just acts as neutral. I'm guessing I'm going to need a new trans but it could be something that a rebuild could fix.
Welcome to the forums!
I am curious which year your Mustang is, as if it's a 2020, then yeah, I'd be awaiting Ford to warranty it (unless they denied the claim of course... surely not...
)
But if it's a 15, yeah, you could rebuild it, or you could call up LKQ or J&M or some parts shop like that and get a 'gently used' (
) one and just swap it out and drive off. I saw one for the '15-16 (and others?
) at LKQ for 1700 bucks with 44K miles on it. Might could find one in a bone yard somewhere too, just have to go diving.
As far as Ford backorders... you'd probably just have to ask Ford Corporate and even they wouldn't necessarily know.

Sounds like they need to rent you a car in the mean time or something...
I mean, it's under warranty, they need to fix it, they can't, that's not your fault (except for owning the car) so they should make it right.
But what to do I know...
Good luck!
