18" tire pressure?

Just hit 5k and took my GT in for first oil change and tire rotation. After getting it back I noticed the ride felt a little different. Checked the tire pressure screen and all 4 were sitting at 40 psi. Door jamb says 32 psi.

Should I get them down to 32 or leave them where they are? I guess my next question - why would the dealership overfill the tires?

Air down to at least 35 IMO

They overfill them at a lot of places.
They get a lot more complaints if they are underfilled, so they overfill them.
Most people never check tires and the last thing they want is for a customer to see a LOW tire.
I usually run between 32 and 35
You can run at higher pressures, but a rougher ride can be felt.

You should be happy, at least they didn't give you the car back with dangerous pressures.
I have found dealer techs seem to think 30lbs is a good number. Actually according to the door jamb sticker. Ford recommends 36lbs for those of us who visit Mexico occasionally. That's what I run and I don't complain about the stiffer ride, I actually like it. No PP car but it's a great touring car.
