My 2018 Mustang EcoBoost has a "Check Engine" light on and when checking the error code it seems the turbo valve is always stuck on the open position. Has anyone experienced this issue and is it easily fixed?
That car is under warranty until 2023 for the powertrain, unless you put 60,000 miles on it. I'd take it to a dealership to fix it.
Of course, I don't know where you are located so there's that potential sand in the mix to think about... yes. Definitely could not have a friendly/good/near by dealership... right...
Post up the error code so we can be sure what we're talkinga bout, but the stuck open wastegate valve is probably exactly that. There may be an actuator that's not happy, the rod is missing/detached/misadjusted, or the valve is not opening/closing, that last of which will necessitate a new turbo/turbo housing, because it's part of the turbo itself. The actuator/rod might be easy, might not, depending. And it's possible it's an electronic fault too.
To help, there's a picture included below showing the actuator (big diaphragm thing on the left), the rod, and the wastegate (aka 'turbo') valve exit on the left. As you'll see, the wastegate is part of the exhaust side housing of the turbo. Whether that part is available separately or not is something I do not know, but if the valve itself is not working, the turbo's comin' off. And may need to for any of those issues. But maybe it's just an adjustment of the rod... and might be something you still need to take in to get properly adjusted...
