Very true. That was the only good thing about the 88 hp 4-banger on my old '79 Fox body--it handled great in the twisties with the optional TRX suspension (anyone remember those?). I trust the EcoBoost will have a bit more juice...

but will the ecoboost 4 actually weigh less than the current V6? Have all the turbo hardware, turbo, intercooler, piping etc...just like the ecoboost V6 weighs about the same as the 5.0. Now it will definitely help fuel economy depending on the power output

Lol I remember learning to drive in a 88hp Mustang. Then took my driving test in a 2002 Explorer. Worlds apart lol

Considering CAFE requirements, it makes sense.

A low emission 4 banger turbo is the engine Ford needs to be able to sell the new Mustang in Europe, where most countries impose CO2 based registration taxes nowadays. In my country the registration tax on a new 5.0 is actually higher than the price of the entire car, making it completely unsellable.

Idk an ecoboost 4 and an ecoboost six seem like very real possibilities. Bring back the SVO!!!

+1

They need to ecoboost the crap out of the whole lineup. Leave the NA motors too but lets make that ecoboost more common so the price of it comes down. The more commonplace it is the better.

Still wish they had come out with the ecoboost Navigator this year so I could have gotten that for the wife.

If you can sell EB F150s to the tune of over 100,000 per year you can put it in anything.
