We already know the Mustang Cobra Jet is extremely quick, but this one built by Johnny Lightning Performance makes drag racing look easy. Taking on some very highly built Hondas and even a Supra, this Cobra Jet just keeps on running strong all night long. The Hondas may have provided the biggest challenge with enormous top-end power that had them trapping nearly 10 mph faster at the line. But consistent — and pretty much perfect — launches meant the race was won in the first 60 feet.

The heavier Supra could launch like the Mustang though, which made the second race much more interesting. That is, until the Supra had some sort of issue half way through the run, handing the win to the Cobra Jet. A re-match with the Honda is the final run in this video, and also the fastest run for the Mustang. The Ford ran 8.27 @167, and the Honda… well, it didn’t. It ran a strong race, again with a higher trap speed, but Johnny Lightning’s perfect launch won the race by nearly a half second.
