Need advice please

Okay guys & gals:

I have stock 19x8 with 245/45 All Season P-Zeros. I'm thinking of going up to 20x9 (30mm offset) and 20x10 (40mm offset) with 275/35 all around.

I'm not a road racer and I pretty much just drive my car on the weekends...so, I'm doing this purely for aesthetic reasons.

Concerns / Notes:

* I don't want the dreaded 4x4 look that some owners have experience by moving up to 20s.
* I don't want to lower my car.
* 275/35/20 are very close in diameter to the 245/45/19s (27.6" to 27.7")...so, I should not have to worry about losing tire gap...Am I correct to assume this?

Look forward to the replies...thanks for looking...Lou

Why would you not just go 295/35-20's for the rears if you are going staggered wheels anyway? Kind of defeating the purpose aren't you? Since you are doing it just for looks why not put some big meats back there and make it impressive looking. You can fit up to a 315 in the rear depending on the model of tire since some are wide and thin depending on who makes it for the same sizes. For a 315 you need at least a 11" rim in the back though.

Thanks for the info Steve...I will admit that I'm probably over analyzing what I want to do with getting new wheels and tires. Its a big investment and I just want to be confident that whatever size wheel/tire I go with, it will work and look good as well.

Off topic, where in Germany are you? My family and I vacationed in Garmisch-Partenkirchen / Munich area back in May. Plus, I was stationed in Stuttgart from 1989-92. Man, how I would love to drive my Mustang on the autobahn!!

Once again, thanks for your reply.

Lou

Cool Lou. I'm in the Vilseck area just up north from Munich an hour or so (going the speed limit) from Nurnberg to the East near the Czech border. Hitting the autobahn is nice but expensive because I can watch the fuel gauge move down. Ha ha. I have a list of all the wheels that will fit past the Brembos if you would like it. I included the tire sizes also. It's on Excel. If you would like to get it via email send me a PM with your regular email address and I will send it to you.

When I was stationed there from 89 thru 92, I had my 1986 Mustang GT with me. The car only had 225 HP and was really slow on the autobahn as compare to typical European cars. It was nothing for a VW Golf or lesser car to pass me while driving on the autobahn. BUT, I never lost a stop light to stop light street race (I know...dumb thing to do...but I was young and stupid)...anyway, it would be so nice to drive my Mustang over there cruising at around 130 - 140 and not worry about a traffic ticket

Look forward to the Excel spreadsheet and you be safe over there...Take care...Lou

Pretty much the only people passing me are the exotics and 911's. the 911's sneak up on me when I'm not looking. I can usually keep right behind them from an 80 roll till about 140 then they pull away. Tons of fun though.
