Would you do it? (same size tires on staggered wheels?)

Would you do it? (same size tires on staggered wheels?)
I ask this because I was about to go and order two of the four tires I need for my Mustang's new 20's tomorrow, but then I noticed on Craigslist that someone was selling four brand new 265/35R20 Nitto NT-555's. Stickers still on them for only $300.
I originally planned on ordering two Toyo Proxes 4Plus 255/35's ($125/ea) up front and 295/30's (205/ea) out back. wheels are 8.5's up front and 10" out back. in all reality the tires will fit just fine. They just won't be staggered. what would you do?
The relative cost would be cut in half, but I wouldn't be taking full advantage of the wider wheels out back other than the visual lip difference.

If your lowered I think it'll look great and roll around fine, might be more of stanced look rather than wide tire gripping action. For the price id get them and just swap out rears later. My staggered tires for my 18s where about 900 and they're nitto nt555 (excellent tire by the way)

I was going to say no, wait and get staggered tyres............but that's a good saving.
I say buy them now, then get a bigger set of rears when the time is right.
Besides, I don't want to have to wait any longer to see the Torq Thrusts on your car

Oh and no I wouldn't use that size on your rims either ... too wide for an 8.5" wheel, and too narrow for a 10"

Ok.. I won't go that route.....
ordered a pair of 255/35R20's tonight from elsewhere.
Found locally some 305/30R20's............. what's the realistic chance that they'd fit decently on my 20x10's?

Then you shouldn't have any problems. The rear may be feel little bit squirmier but that won't be nearly as noticeable as an overwidth tire on the front. There is slight possibility of fender rub, but that depends on the offset of your wheels, how low you are, and whether your rear axle is centered. I doubt American Racing sells an aggressive fitment wheel, but better to check for yourself. Measure twice and all.
Those 305s are on Alcoa Super Snakes, which are 20x10 +36.7.

The principle is sound, but I wouldn't run a 265 on either an 8.5" wheel or a 10" wheel. If it were about running square 275s on Boss wheels, (9F, 9.5R) I'd say go for it, because those widths are both in the middle of the acceptable range for that size tire.
265 on an 8.5" wheel will bulge a bit and cost you some steering feel due to sidewall flex.
265s on a 10" wheel will be mildly stretched, which will make them look narrower in the rear than in the front. Also, if you plan on cornering hard, the rear sidewalls will be much stiffer, which means breakaway will be less progressive.

Another thing to remember, tires are the most important safety system on the vehicle - you cant accelerate, turn or stop without them... well not competently anyways. My old boss used to like to point out how bad his car handled while sliding on the roof.
