Traction
Traction
I have a 2012 Mustang GT with a Ford Racing tune and boss quad exhaust. With 1st gear I just have to walk it out. When I shift to 2nd gear the tires just spin (not hop). Any suggestions for a better launch and 2nd gear tire spin ?

Continental extreme DW is a good traction tire at reasonable prices. Mickey Thompson sport comp is another one.
If money is not a limiting factor Michelin pilot super sports are the best outside of a drag radial.
Drag radials have a short shelf life and are really dangerous with any moisture on the ground.
My stock f1 supercars are downright dangerous below 70 degrees. Not bad when it is 95 out.

For what its worth when my stockers wore out I went to Continental extreme DW 275/35/19s (I have the Brembo pkg). That was late last summer and I have been very happy with the summer and winter/wet perfomance. These were just a tad shorter than the 255/45/19s stock but my tune took care of the spedo, with the car lowered they look great.

You have to be kidding, I've been driving my Mustang all year round with the Eagle F1's, and even in the cold, unless there is something on the road like water or salt, as soon as they warm up they are fine. I'm talking real winter here. It was 15 about two weeks ago, that was **** cold, and really who beats on their car in that temp anyway?
The ones where the manual states they should never be driven on below 40 degrees. The ones were they have had numerous of cases of the tires developing deep cracks if driven in temps below 40 degrees.
I am not an overly aggressive driver (mid 40's) and my car will spin the tires from a 40 mpg roll to the rev limiter if it is under 60 degrees.
I have two sets on two different sets of wheels that I would darn near give away to local mustang owner. 1 set has 1500 miles and the other has 5,500 miles.
In all fairness, these tires are very sticky in very hot temps and reportedly a decent track tire.
Check your tires to see if you have any cracks in them. I would hate to see you get hurt. There was a new 13 GT500 owner from Las Vegas I might add that just reported he had 2 brand new (less than 750 miles and 3 weeks old) Goodyear's develop serious cracks. His dealer replaced all 4 with store credit towards a different set of tires.
Respectfully,
MJJ
Are we talking about the same tires? The Goodyear F1 supercars that come OEM on the non svtpp Shelby?

When I just had my steeda tune and CAi i could get my Falken 452's to hook up pretty good when it was 60 degrees and above. Im pretty happy with them and when it warms up in the summer they should do fine with my current setup.
I've gone thru plenty of tires with these mustangs. Throttle control is your friend, that is key. Doesn't really matter what tires you have if you can control that throttle.
