Strut mounts?

I've done quite a bit of reading on upgrading the springs and dampers all the way around, but I'm a bit confused on whether or not I need upgraded mounts or caster camber plates...Any advice?

Fyi, I'm looking at the steeda sport/ultralite springs and koni str.s.
2013 GT, only 1600 miles thus far.

Thanks!

I reused mine when switching to P springs but just recently installed Koni Yellows and Ground Control CC plates which made a world of difference. If you want to do it right I would get CC plates, either the GC plates or Vorshlag if you can swing the money, I just wouldn't get go with anything that reuses the stock bearings.

most people who seem to switch out their shocks/struts go with the gt500 upgrade mounts. That's what I'll be doing.

Just don't get the eibach pro dampners like I did and have to send back the gt500 mounts due to fitment.

You'd need a kit made for 05-09 cars to be able to use the gt500 mounts. The older cars shocks and struts can be easily put into new cars. The strut mounts are different and you'll be very annoyed if you buy parts you can't use.

luckily I bought a set of the 05-10 koni strt so the gt500 mounts will work with them. Sorry they didn't work for you.

So you need the 05-10 koni's if you get the gt500 mounts? Does it matter which struts if i go with the c/c plates?

I have to out the stock mounts and put them back in twiceand the only problem I had the first time was having to put them back together lol. Other than that no problems (knock on wood). If only I would have known all this info before I ordered lol.

Yes it does matter.

05-09 struts- you can use GT500 mounts or 05-09 cc plates
10-14 struts- you CAN'T use GT500 mounts and have to get cc plates for 10-14 MY

correct. So if you get 05-09 struts and gt500 mounts for a 10+, you don't necessarily need the cc plates, right?

That's right. GT500 mounts and cc plates go in the same place so you either get one or the other and the corresponding struts they work with.

It is all of the salt and debris that gets me....

I have ruined too many nice cars in the past driving them in PA winters. I am going to do what I can to keep this one as nice as possible. I just bought a house with a nice garage but it is not heated. This past winter it was far too cold to even think about working on the car. Once I solve that issue winters will then be spent modding and all other seasons will be spent driving.

Oh and to stay on topic....

I am ordering GT500 strut mounts, 05-10 struts and shocks. That should work on my '13 GT.

I feel ya. Any vendors have a kit for this? Front and rear 05-10 strut/shocks.

Sam Strano has a kit that includes the springs/struts/shocks that you are looking at. He has the caster camber plates listed separately, but I do not think that he carries the GT500 strut mount.

I am ordering this "kit" as it has a little price break compared to separate pieces:

I am going with the STR.T shocks/struts also.
