Staggered setup tire size help.

I just pick up a set stock boss 302 rims for $600, with only 300 miles on them. Felt like I stole them for that price.

I need recommendations for tire and size. Stock tires on the boss 302 are front: 255/40/ZR19, and the rears are 285/35/ZR19, but the sidewall just seems too thin and the diameter is about an inch less.

It seems 255/45/ZR19's on the front and 285/40ZR19's on the rears would look better and are much closer to the stock tire diameter, and revs per mile.

Anyone riding on the larger tire size, likes/dislikes, or suggested setup?

I agree 35 doesn't seem like much, but I had 285/35/18 on the rear of a previous Mustang and it was ok.

Not the same size you are asking about, but I have 275/35R20 all the way around. Mine has been lowered with the Roush suspension. Say about 1.5 inches. I have no issues with rub at all. You can compare tire sizes at the link below for fit. Great calculator. The 285's you mentioned are almost 1/2 inch taller than what I have.

I like your thinking OP I would go with a 285/45 or a 295/40 on the rear.

Stock should be 10 for the rears.

They are 9" wide in the front and 9.5" in the rear.
