Post Rear bump stops cut. What about the front ones ?

Hello,

My 2011 GT is lowered using -1.5" Ford racing springs and Kony sport yellow dampers.

https://themustangsource.com/f821/fr...prings-496431/

The guy who have installed this setup has forgotten to install the front bump stops.
I have checked with Koni France and they said the front bump stops are mandatory to prevent damages. So the front bump stops will be installed next week.

Front bump stops are 5.5cm high (2.17"). Measuring the maximum travel of a front Ford damper, i see around 15cm (5.9")
5.9-2.17-1.5=2.23" (5.66cm) of free suspension travel. But this is without the weight of the Mustang.

As i have cut the top of the 'mushrooms' on the rear to give more travel to the suspension, maybe i have to do the same for the front ?

Serge.

Just cut the bumpstop in half. That should be enough. I cut my rears, but totally forgot about the fronts when I put on my K-Springs. I'd like to get back in there at some point (likely when I change to a different damper) and cut them, but no issues NOT doing it so far, other than the one time on a big bump the front bottomed out on the stops.

The question now is : which part will better ? The smaller one with more density or the top one with less density in its curved part ?

In this Saleen documentation, they cut the front and rear bump stops (page 12 and 20) to install the suspensions kit.

The FRPP jounce bump stops are a different density. The bump stops are considered part of your suspension from an engineering standpoint and are required. They provide damping just like your strut/spring setup upon bottoming out your suspension. The FRPP are softer b/c of the lowered vehicle. If you want shorter ones that have progressive damping as well then buy these. They sell front and rear separately. Click the link for maximum motorsports bump stops.

For the extra $28 it's worth picking up the ford racing bumpers and installing with the setup.

OP - glad you got yours worked out hope the ride is good! Can't wait to install my new suspension setup this week...
