Koni Yellows vs. Bilstein HD vs. Koni STR.T
Koni Yellows vs. Bilstein HD vs. Koni STR.T
2013 Brembo car. I would like to use the stock springs, as the rates are decent for street driving, but the damper package is useless.
So, I'm between Koni Yellows, STR.T and Bilstein HD's.
Has any with a Brembo Package or Track Package used any of these 3 with stock springs?

Another vote for the yellows. I had some buyers remorse when I first bought them. After I hit a mountain road and changed settings for some thrashing around and then set them back to full soft to drive home, I didn't question the cost again.
Side note. I had the bilstein hds on my audi a4 and loved them. The ride quality of my stang is pretty close. I used h & r springs and sways with the audi. I believe the cost of the koni sports and bilstein hds is pretty close.

I'm really enjoying the STRs since I had them installed about a year ago. Transformed the driving experience in a huge way, but you could argue it's just a part of system of improvements I had implemented.
In a way, I miss the stock raked stance and have heard that the BBP springs are great when matched to a properly valved shock/strut. I think you would notice a significant change in handling with the STRs. If your driving is limited to street use, then you probably won't miss the adjustablity. The caveat is that you will always be curious about the yellow guys, as I am now.
I'm really curious to see what gains could be made for a guy just looking for a "little more" from the STRs. Not sure if the expense is worth it, but hell, if you are going to go in and spend the money, might as well spend a little more and have the last word in shocks/struts for street/moderate track use.

I agree with the always curious part.
I've also been thinking about OEM Boss struts/shocks/springs.
The most important part to me would be OEM NVH compliance, while not being underdamped like the stock dampers.

This was my concern too. I started a couple of threads about low nvh mods to the suspension. My car is pretty quiet and comfortable. You can check my signature for my mods.
Not to plug but if you are interested in Boss shocks I will be selling a pair soon, but also to be honest if you feel like you will eventually want to go further then they are kind of a waste.
I too have looked into the 3 shocks you mentioned, and if you are staying with stock springs i would go with Bilstein or STR's, that are actually made to match up with stock springs, now if u r switching springs you will probably want adjustables to be able to tune your tolerance to the spring set up.
Let us know if we can help you out. When comparing the HD's vs. the Yellows the first thing koni has over the HD's is the adjustability along with the price. HD's are monotube so you automatically have the stability and longevity of the HD's however, Koni's lifetime warranty (in my opinion) trumps that.
We are currently running an awesome sale on the koni's

I changed my track pack over to Koni Yellow and Steeda Boss Springs, plus more, as I will take the car to track days.
If I were just upgrading the awful stock damping then I would have bought the Koni SRT. For the money a great street car way to go.

You do know that Bilstein also have a lifetime warranty on their HDs and most other street parts? Their Motorsports parts have a 90 day warranty.

Thanks for the info. Something I guess that can maybe help push an 850+ non adjustable Damper set.
