Koni yellows question

Just installed Koni yellows a few days ago and am wondering how I'd know what setting they come pre-set on, and how much can they be adjusted before damage (if any) might occur ?

I've been driving the car and it feels great but am looking to see what turning that **** will do, lol

There should be one direction for full soft and the opposite for full hard. I believe it should stop at either extreme so you can't damage it. I would turn it to full soft or right in the middle and see how it feels, then just fiddle with it from there.

I read somewhere to break in at full soft. That's turned left as far as they will go. I turned mine a half turn each till I found what I liked.

Thanks guys. I went out there and started turning the **** to the left, didn't even think to read what it says on the **** and which way the "FIRM" arrow points ... after I did the 3rd one I finally realized that I was setting everything to full-firm ... lol

Yeah, the ride sucked, my ***** were bouncing big-time ... lmao

Back to full soft it is.

Ya, full still is not exactly going to provide the nicest ride. On the street your probably want to keep it on the softer setting. I have heard that you do not want to max that **** all way to either direction because it can cause stress to the inner workings and lead to earlier shock failure. So you may want to go to full soft then dial it up just a smidge to help preserve shock valving.

It may not be a valid theory but it likely wont be noticeable ride wise so it cant hurt.

I went about a half-turn on the ride home and I could still feel the ride being harder than I had, so after I got home I went full-soft then just a smidge, maybe a 1/4-1/2" toward firm.
And that's where I'm stopping I think.
Haven't driven the car again, but I know for sure that as long as I'm on a public road they're not going past this setting, lol

By a smidge I meant 1/4 turn at most. 1/2 turn is definitely noticeable with these shocks

Good thing they have a lifetime warranty from Koni. That's why I think they are worth the extra loot.

Moobies...lol

Gabe - I see you're running the Koni Sport adj shocks with the Steeda Sport springs. What strut mounts are you using?

Have you noticed a huge improvement in the handling of the car compared to the stock Track Pack setup since you upgraded to these parts?

I take it you're still running the stock Brembo rims and Pirelli's?

I played around with the car a bit today at my favorite local stretch of flat straight highway / test track facility :-) - about 45 degrees outside - and had some wheel hop, but still managed 4.7 seconds 0-60. Seems like you have to launch these cars around 2000 rpm. Maybe the wheel hop was because of the cool outside temps? I'll try again when we get some 70+ degree weather and see what happens.

...and 11SHELBYGT500...those knockers ( in your avatar...not Gabe's!! ) are bigger than Godzilla's head!!

I'm still on the Brembo rims but on all-season tires (Hankook or Kumho, I forget right now).

And I love the new handling, nice and flat, much less if any-left brake dive / accel. squat, and firm-but-smoother when hitting bumps.

What strut mounts are you using? Are your Koni's the 2011+ or the pre-2011?

Ok let me know when you do. I'm curious to see whether they can get you in spec or not.

The springs are advertised as 1" front / 1.25" rear. I think it went a little lower than that.

I plan on going for an alignment soon, and at the same time I'm gonna have the shop remove the resos and dyno the car.
Wish I got a dyno before the tune, but I guess a stock 5.0 usually puts out about 330-340 on their Mustang dyno, so we'll see
