Ford Racing M-FR3-MV6A package install question
Ford Racing M-FR3-MV6A package install question
I have a '14 SGM V6 Premium Coupe with the Pony Package arriving in a couple of weeks.
I'm working with the dealer to see if I can purchase the M-FR3-MV6A package from them "installed" (along with some FRPP M-5230-MV6LA mufflers) before I take delivery so I can incorporate the whole enchilada into the car loan and warranty. The sticking point is the price (we're starting at MSRP
) but I'll work that out.
My question is, the drop is relatively mild. Have folks that have gone with this package skipped adding the adjustable panhard bar?

I went a similar route with lowering, used the FRPP P springs, and I grabbed an adjustable PHB just to be safe. After the install the drivers side stuck out maybe 1/4 to 1/8th of an inch out which I corrected. Not sure if that amount of difference is anything to worry about, might even be within spec, but if you want better handling you might as well get a better PHB and brace, or save up for a Watts link. Might also want to look at replacing the LCA's and getting relo brackets.
Plus not to down talk your plan, but it seems like financing 1500 is a little silly, plus you could probably get the kit from Tousley or another dealer for much less.

If I went with AM or other sources, I'm looking at $1500 for the package, $255 for the PHB and $670 for the mufflers, everything shipped to my dealer. Installation and alignment they estimated at $900.
So, it's a little more than $1500.
Of course I could have it done cheaper at a CarX or I could do some of it with some help, but if the dealer puts it all in it's all covered on the 3/36K bumper to bumper warranty. Unfortunately my dealer is not very interested in matching AM or Steeda's prices
if I want it all on the bill of sale.
I may have to put the parts on Paypal BML and just add the labor to the BOS. All my cash is tied up in the down payment

Great news!!!!!
According to Deysha, my Mustang is arriving at the dealer next week. I am happy to say the dealer and I worked out a fair price to have the FRPP V6 suspension package, the FRPP PHB and the FRPP touring axle backs all installed before I take delivery. That means everything is covered under the loan and completely under the Ford 3x36 bumper to bumper warranty.
I will post comments after I take delivery. Prior to the mustang I had a BMW 330xi, an Audi TT, a VW GLI and a CC R-Line so I have very high standards when it comes to handling.

I gotta say, this forum themustangsource.com has been an EXTREMELY valuable resource. I learned what to buy, how to buy and when to buy it all here. The wait for the car gave me tons of time to do extensive research.
I know that the M-FR3-MV6A package isn't the "best" out there. Eibach and Steeda may mave a better, but from what I read here and elsewhere, Ford put together a well thought out suspension package. The mild drop will look better much but still accommodate dedicated snow tires and the snow that ultimately builds up in the fender wells. My hope is the pony will handle as well as my Audis and VWs did in the spring, summer and fall. From the research I've done, it will.
Also my research led me to the FRPP M-5230-MV6LA mufflers axle back mufflers. I originally settled on the Bora Tourings. When I found out Borla made the FRPP mufflers, I was sold.

Awesome, good luck with it all! I think it's a great idea to get it covered under warranty, worth paying for the piece of mind and having it come to you already how you want it. No dropping the car off at a shop and waiting a couple days to get your new car back!
As someone who also had great handling cars, the Mustang will stay right there with them. I have a V6 PP, and with the 19" wheels & Pirelli tires it handles amazingly well, I was shocked I was driving a Mustang. My only advice would be to get some nice tires to take advantage of the suspension mods.
Enjoy!

. I picked up some base factory Mustang 17" wheels and TPMS on eBay and am ordering a set of 4 Michelin X Ice 3's from Tire Rack.I've got to prepare for our Wisconsin winter. Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays this Mustang from the swift completion of its appointed rounds.

So my car arrived at the dealer on August 28th. The dealer was supposed to order all my parts two weeks prior to its arrival but instead ordered it the day of. The SM didn't want the parts sitting around? Anywho, the parts show up last Thursday but they don't get it on a hoist until late Friday afternoon. Won't get my car until late Monday
.
I've been waiting three months and four days for this Mustang. aaaaaaaargh!
