Ford Racing 1.5" springs on 2014 gt

So i have been searching on here pretty much all day without an exact answer on what I'm looking for...

I want to install the Ford Racing 1.5" lowering springs on my 2014 gt... but all the sites i see say you have to use different strut mounts/struts to use these...

Whats the deal with the mounts? Will the springs only fit if you use the M-18183-C strut mounts? or is this "recommended"? Will they legit NOT bolt up/fit into the stock strut mounts??I have lowered all my cars and never had to worry about different strut mounts to use a lowering spring. I know its recommend to use different struts, etc, when lowering a vehicle but, but I am just looking to use lowering springs for now and deal w the ride quality until i buy coil overs in the late summer.

Can someone clear this up for me? I'd appreciate it.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm deciding between BMR and FR.

You don't need new struts or mounts, though stock struts and mounts might not hold up as well against that drop.

I talked to jay @ hypermotive.... the FR 1.5 springs are a direct swap ...and imo 1.5 is not that that big of a drop considering my other cars were all 3+".... if the stock struts crap out after a year or two I'll just buy full coilovers...i just have to get rid of that 4x4 tuff truckin wheel gap on it stock for now. lol

Ford Racing recommends their struts, which are 05-10 specific, but can be used with 11+ cars when used with the GT500/FRPP mounts. 11+ struts have a different shaft diameter than the 05-10, thus the GT500 mounts won't fit.

I just ordered the FRPP 1'' springs with '11+ specific Koni Oranges and I'll be reusing my stock mounts.

I HIGHLY recommend replacing the stock struts/shocks with an upgraded aftermarket unit. The stock dampers won't be able to effectively dampen the car with those springs, they really aren't effective with stock springs.

I just spent less than $350 on the full set of front and rear Koni STR.T's from a local vendor. All in all, it's not that much more to go ahead and do it right, the first time.

I was going to go with the Ford "P" springs packaged with the non adjustable shock. With Koni's current sale, I was able to get a great deal on set of Koni STR.Ts and Steeda Sport springs. The Koni STR.T have had good reviews so I think it is a wise choice.

I've heard just as many people say springs are fine alone though not the best ride but not horrible either vs shocks w spring (this has been my experience with other cars i've owned as well). imo doing it right the first time would involve a set of fully adjustable coilovers and $1300+ dollars but that is just me...i still may wait for co's though as these are 30k cars... why be cheap.. i hear ya

might as well upgrade shocks and struts while you're in there. No sense in doing
It all over again in 10k miles

I installed the FRPP springs as well on stock struts and shocks. 30k on the car now. No issues other than a stiffer ride which is part of lowering anyway.
