discouraged brake upgrade '13 gt with stock rims

so i have 2 sets of rims the stock gt 18x8 and the frpp matte black 18x8. looks like there's no way to upgrade to a 4 piston 14" kit with these wheels. i just tried 3 different templates and the closest one was about 1/4" off in clearance. baer 6p 14", stoptech 4p 14" and stoptech 6p 14". now what?

Look for used brembos from a track pack car.

I dont see those fitting as when u order the brembos you get the 19x9 (9.5?) Rims.

You're gonna have to run different wheels. Even the factory BBP wheels barely clear Brembo calipers, those 18x8 wheels just weren't made to work around big brakes.

Take a look at Wilwood Forged Narrow Superlite 6R Big Brake Front Brake Kit. This guy has an 08 Bullitt, and his rims look factory. He has the 6piston calipers front, and 4 rear.

Hope that helps.

You could use wheel spacers.

My guess is the brakes don't clear the inside, so even spacers won't work?

what FRPP wheels do you have? They probably clear. GT500 wheels, FR500's, as well as many other 18's clear the 14" brembo wheels.

There are 18" wheels that clear the brembo brakes, the only oem 18" that will fit are GT500 wheels.

Quite a few aftermarket 18's that will clear.

OP - where is the clash showing? On the inner surface of the wheel or against the spokes? I had to use spacers on my old car when I put a BBK on. Worked perfectly fine

Somebody had a set of FR500s that they supposedly tried on a Brembo car and they didn't fit.

On a side note, my Brembo rims are still for sale

hi all. first - gee thanks danielle :P haha

second, upon visual analysis of this video: http://www.mustang50magazine.com/mul...ustangs/19163/

i found it does in fact appear the "bone stock" 2012 GT had the OPTIONAL polished 18x8 wheels which look strikingly similar to the wheels i have linked to by mfc133.

see attached screen shots showing stock 235/50 tires.

so i just may very well be onto something here!

from the stoptech templates the clash is happening on the spokes as show in this photo - it's the angled line bottom left. that's where the spoke lines up to this template - roughly of course.

Yep, rims were cut too shallow for the brakes to clear. Spacers might help, but it's gonna depend a lot on how much you need to get the clearance. Doesn't have to be much, just has to clear, so perhaps a 1/4" spacer is all ya need.

Do you have some washers lyin' about that you could use to temp up something like that? Put two or three on each stud, put the wheel on, and see where you're at? Then you could get a spacer of the right thickness... and/or studs, if they're too thick...

Heck, washers are cheap, go get some and try it, yeah?

/Of course, you might wind up with a roller skate look, and/or fender lip cutting the rubber down... but the brakes would clear, right?

nothing exudes speed more than the roller skate look

If I'm looking at the picture right, it seems like a 6-8mm spacer would get you the clearance you need.
