Cooper RS3-S Width

Will most likely be going with Cooper RS3-S tires for next summer. Wouldn't mind having them be a little wider than stock but I'm running the 19x8.5" wheels and I'm not sure new wheels are in my budget. Do the Coopers tend to run a little wide/narrow, or are they pretty much right where they should be? Can I try and squeeze 265 tires on there safely?

Mine are Michelin 265/45/18 no problem on 8.5 inch rims. Don't see why not on a 19 inch rim.

I'd say they're true to size... I'd just get the 255/40s to keep the stock tire size. I don't remember them coming in a 265 for 19s..??

They do but I think it's 35 sidewall.

Ah just looked them up. They're 26.3" overall height and stock size is 27"...you're going to lose quite a bit of sidewall. You'd probably get some sharper turn in, at the sacrifice of some road noise and loss of ride quality.

My bigger concern is how it looks, don't want an even more pronounced 4x4 look. Whole point of the wider tires was to give it a bit more of an aggressive stance.

Try this tire calculator. I found it useful when making my purchase.

Unless you're slammed on coilovers, I'd stick with the stock size. You're not going to gain hardly anything going from a 255 to 265.

I have the 255/40 Coopers on a 19x8.5 wheel, an it looks good. Not much bulge. Look at page 1 for some pics. I dont know how much wider the 265's would be, but it looks like a possibility.

Their website says a minimum of a 9" wheel for 265.
