Just would like to confirm if these are the right/exact specifications for the wheels that come with the Brembo brake package:

19 x 9

5 x 4.5" bolt circle (114.3mm)

6.8" (172.72mm) backspacing

42mm offset

What would be the "perfect" equivalent specs for 20s? I am not planning on running staggered.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

 

20x9 with a +42 offset. Diameter doesn't affect offset.

If someone knew the answer to that it would be helpful for the thread and for those who are doing custom stuff so they could tell how much to adjust off the stock measurements. OP what are you looking at for 20's? Off the shelf or custom like CCW or Forgestar?

The perfect equivalent spec in 20" wheels would be the identical specs, just 20" wheel, all other specs remaining the same.

As for "perfect", some people look for a little wider and flush-to-fender look, some like the stock stance just fine but want different wheels.

Since you have established you do not want staggered (wider in the rear) but want 20's, and if you want to retain similar offset's/backspacing/width, you need to carefully choose the backspacing/offset on your aftermarket wheels to prevent the rear of the car from looking stupid.

IMO - One of the worst looks I see on Mustangs is narrow (stock like width) wheels pushed out to be fender flush on the rear. With 20" wheels and tires, the sidewalls give less bulge, making this look even more pronounced. Usually when people look for different offset wheels, or wheels that are more fender flush, they fill the rear with a wider wheel and tire.

 

Wider is always better looking and good for traction unless you are at the bar.

kn7671 - I've considered getting a wider rear - wheels.

Tried these original 2013 Shelby GT500 SVT PP wheels, with 19s in front and 20 (x9.5, with 285/35 tires) on the rear. Not bad. May (emphasis on "may") have to drop the car just a little bit.

Wife didn't like the design though....

So I'm taking my time to get the right spec right size and right design.

 

Taking your time and doing it right the first time is always a good way to do things. When you are spending HRE sized money especially. Is that a GT-R siting in the corner on the left? That particular wheel isn't TOO expensive compared to the 3 piece ones. What color were you thinking of getting?

 

Yep, that's an R34. Not yet sure on the color. The silver (satin or gloss) may be too "safe". Maybe the charcoal (either satin or gloss) to match the Brembos...

 

I'm going to either match my wheels to the stripes, or get polished to add a little attention getter to the car. Not that it doesn't get enough all ready.

Was considering Foose Legends (in 20s) a while back. Though I wasn't sure if the 20 x 8.5s (for the front) would clear the Brembos.

 

Try driving one of these things in Germany. Those are nice wheels too.

 

Now, that would be interesting! I would guess that a Mustang is a rare sight over there.

 

It's about as rare as seeing an M3 driven in the states. Especially where I live because it's all country unless you want to drive 45 minutes to the city. It's really great. Have you decided on what you are getting yet? I want something like the CCW SP500 in polished with a 3" lip on the rear and 2" on the front. The 19x11 only weighs 23+lbs. Hard to beat that.

 

I don't know where in the states you've lived, but an m3 in miami is as common as a Honda civic lol.

 

That's Miami. I know in Columbia, SC there aren't a ton of them running around. Heck, there aren't a ton of them running around where I live in Germany. Most of the people driving them are U.S. Military. How many of those in Miami are enthusiasts though who actually modded them?

 

I'm waiting for the quote by HRE. At the same time, I've inquired with ADV (since they do custom forging) if they can do the Legends (or Bullitt design) in 19s for me.

 

ADV is way more expensive than HRE from the start and ADV doesn't have TUV endorsement to my knowledge. HRE is proven on the street and at the MAJOR Racing levels. ADV is not. The guys that own and run HRE are enthusiasts that also happen to be engineers. ADV outsources the engineering. This is just the info that I have read and researched myself. ADV has some sexy stuff but looks only get you so far in life. If you are letting go of that much loot I know where I would put my bets. Just saying.

Any way, I just wanna share a funny thing I over heard last week (out of topic though):

A guy comes to the tuning shop with a brand new black ZL1 where I'm having my car looked over, and he's inquiring about an exhaust system. The owner of the shop lets him hear an SL55 (which they custom built mid pipes & removed the cats) and mine with the Borlas. The guy then says:
