Another Gear Question
Another Gear Question
I'm getting ready to take the plunge and buy some gears. I need help deciding wrather to go 3.55's or 3.73's. I have a 2010 GT with cams, custom tune, tune lenght shorty headers,62 mm throttle body roush CAI, High flow cats with a X Pipe and flomasters. The suspension is all upgraded. I Put alot of hwy miles and want something to give it alil more pep without running 3 grand or higher down the Hwy. Just looking for some advice pros and cons of each would help.
Thanks in advance..

In my opinion, 3.73 is the way to go. I'd avoid 4.10 with the hwy driving. I think you'd be dis-satisfied with 3.55. My mustang is primarily for enjoyment and show, but we do take hwy trips with it, and I loved the extra bit of oomph the 3.73's gave it.. However it still cruises nice at speed. Depending on the mileage of the car, may want to consider a new bearing kit to go with those gears.. When I did mine I also added a ford racing differential cover and the ford racing traction-lok rear diff.
I would prefer 3.55's in my car for what I do with it. The 3.73's definitely get up and go but I'd like 3rd and 4th to be a bit taller. For street driving you would probably be happy with 3.73's. What gears do you have now?
Here is the info from shop manual.Based on the codes from the door jamb sticker on the botXXXXX XXXXXne.
BG - 3.31 - non-limited slip, base vehicle with manual or automatic transmission
CB - 3.73 - limited slip
CD - 3.55 - limited slip with manual transmission
CG - 3.31 - limited slip with automatic transmission

The Axle Code is CD so i'm assuming i have 3.55's with limited slip diff.. would there be any benifits changing to 3.73 gears?? as it sits know i can spin 1st and chirp 2nd with the TC on advance. I'm looking to hook up alittle better. I already have BMR UCA and BMR LCA's.
