Adj front sway bar installation?

I have the Steeda competition adjustable sway bar waiting for installation. The instructions say to use red Loc Tite on the end link nuts. It seems to me like using red Loc Tite would take away part of the advantage of having the adjustable bar since you have to heat it with a torch to remove the nuts. This makes it inconvenient to dial in the car. For those of you with adjustable front sways did you use red Loc Tite? Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

That is strange. Use blue instead?

I was thinking about using blue until I get the car dialed in, but wasn't sure if it would hold. Has anyone else used blue on the front sway end link nuts?

Use Blue Like Laser suggested. Of better yet use a lock Nut.

I have locking nuts on my end links and they actually loosened up! I'm adding blue loctite soon (to the metal threads obviously, not the nylon threads).

Thanks for the advice. I have to crawl under mine to see what is currently on it. The Steeda sway bar uses the factory end link nuts and I do not know if the factory used nylock nuts or loc tite. Steeda's installation sheet says on 2005 and newer cars to use red, but as previously stated that makes it hard to adjust as you dial in the car. I am leaning toward the blue if it has lock nuts as you guys suggested. Let me know if yours come loose again after using the blue loc tite with the nylock nuts.

It took about 8 months for them to come loose so I'm not going to wait that long. I'm just waiting for the weather to be nicer so I have time to get under the car.

I'd love to hear what setting you end with. I have the Steeda competition bar with stock rear bar. The middle hole is where the sweet spot is for me. We will see if the new tires make me want to go stiffer.

I put the adj rear in a month or so back due to bad end link bushings. I put it on the softest setting to begin with since I have the stock front still. This has introduced some over steer. If I am thinking about this correctly that means the Steeda competition adj rear on the softest setting is stiffer than stock bar was. I don't know if I should go for the softest setting on the front initially or start in the middle. Since you are in the middle with the stock rear I should probably start there. Any ideas?

I think your logic here is pretty solid. Try the middle on the front.

With the stock rear and middle setting on the front I can't get understeer during street driving. **
At the track I get some minor understeer in tight fast hairpins or 180deg corners. But that's very easily addressed with lifting the throttle temporarily. Camber plates help here too. Corner exits are fantastic. Pedal to the floor and no oversteer.

In some high speed corners I get some oversteer, but it's predictable and addressed with a quick correction or getting on throttle to transfer the weight to the back.

Now for **
ive noticed that I have to add more steering initially off center to get the car turning. I don't think it's understeer, but I guess it could be. I could try to set the front bar to softest setting and see if it changes.

Finally got around to installing the adj front sway bar. The nuts that Steeda supplied were not nylock. This is probably why they specified red loc tite. I reused the factory nylock nuts and added blue loc tite for a little extra insurance. Once I settle in on which setting I like, I will probably go ahead and put red on it to make sure it doesn't come loose. I am starting in the middle hole to see how it feels with the rear in the softest setting. I will provide an update after I drive it some. Need to get the dirt and grease off of me before climbing in the car.

Awesome! Looking forward to your thoughts.

I've made 0 headway on on only "nuisance" with my too much initial steering complaint. I'm waiting for registration confirmation on TMO to post my questions there.

Went for a short run after cleaning up. Oversteer introduced from the stiffer adj rear bar is gone and car feels more balanced. I may actually have a little understeer now. Need some time on some mountain roads without my wife to really a get a feel for it. i don't need her getting car sick in my mustang.

I put a stiffer rear bar in and got over steer. I put in a stiffer front and it went away. You put a stiffer front in and it sounds like you have some under steer. I know you are still running the stock rear sway, but have you tried to go to the softest setting on the front to see if the under steer goes away?

You make very valid points. Not yet. I may have to. I love the way the car handles, this initial off-center understeer-like thing is a just a bit annoying.

It is worth a try. My understanding is that a stiffer rear or softer front lead to over steer and a softer rear or stiffer front tend to understeer. I would try softening the front to see if it corrects the issue. It doesn't cost anything since you have the adj bar. If it does you can either leave it as is or stiffen it back up and put in a stiffer rear sway bar to balance it out.
