275/35/19 or 275/40/19 for Brembo Wheels?
 

I am in need of new tires again for my 2011 GT with Brembo Brake option. I would like to go just a little wider from the stock 255/40/19's and would like to go with 275's all around.

However, the big question is, 275/35/19's or 275/40/19's?
Price is not much different, but I was more concerned about fitment/rubbing. I am running the Steeda Ultralite lowering springs with the Black Track Wheels (identical to the Brembo wheels) on my car.

Looking at a tire comparison calculator, it appears that the 275/35/19's are 0.4 in. smaller in diameter, whereas the 275/40/19's are 0.7 in. larger in diameter, compared to the stock 255's.

Any experience, suggestions and recommendations are greatly appreciated.

BTW: I am currently running the General G-Max, which in my opinion is an excellent all-around tire, especially for daily driving. I was really happy with it...

I recently put Michelin Pilot Sport 275/40/19s on my 2012 Brembo GT with SR lowering springs. No rubbing at all and the tire fills the wheel wells much better than the stock Pirellis did. The larger side walls make the ride a little more forgiving as well.

Where they a/s or summer tires? How's the ride?

Don't doubt it. Go for the 275/40R19 on all four. I have Michelin Super Sport. Look wider from behind, fill the wheels well perfectly. My Michelin stick like glue, noticed faster steering on front and not any rubbing. By the way I'm lowered 1" in front and 1.25" in back with STEEDA Sport Springs. I was on your same situation (35's VS 40's), and after reading that the first gear is useless with the 35's combined to our 3.73 gear, I toke my decision and went for the 40's. :banana:

Looks like the 275/40-19's are the same width, is that correct? Had anyone looked a wider tire and if so, what a good size to go with to go a bit wider. I thought about going with a 19x10 wheel with a wider tire. Any thoughts on going that route? Would I be asking for trouble with rubbing up front?

A good match will be the 285/35R19, I'm not sure if it will rub, probably will improve handing along some tramlining of the front wheels

Even though I love my 255/35's, it's time for something different. I would LOVE to go staggered with 19x11's in the rear, but I'll have to build up some Mustang funds first, unless someone is buying my original Brembo wheels and my Track Pack wheels. LOL

No rubbing at all, from a visual point of view, on the front ones you almost will not be able to see the difference, but the rear ones from the back and side view look great. They feel very stable on the handling side.

Michelin Super Sports do seem to be well loved but they're pricey.

Is there a comparably good performing pick for the budget conscious shopper? How are those Hankooks?

Second, how will those 275/40s look on a stock suspension? I love my Jeep but I'm definitely not into the 4x4 look on my performance cars. ;)

Plus one on the Cooper's, I have a set in the 255/40/19 for my winter set up and like them a lot , I will probably go with the summer only version when my F1's wear out.

I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S + in 275/40/19 square and cant wait to put them on next week when I get back to Germany. Sale at TireRack so couldn't resist.

285/35/19 are stock for the rear tires on the 12-13 Boss 302. They have the same overall diameter as the 255/40/19 on the stock Brembo.

If you are going square it doesn't really matter. I'd say the 275/40's to give you more protection against pot holes.

But if you are keeping the 255/40 up front, I'd do the 285/35. It won't rub, keep you balanced, and give even more meat.

I just didn't want to put 285's on the stock 9" wide Brembo wheels and wanted to be able to rotate the tires.

Got my tires on the stock wheels today and just realized that I need an adjustable PHB as my rear end is offset a bit to the drivers side.

Even stock ride height cars are biased towards the left and would need an Adj. Panhard Bar.

When you swapping out for tires that have a difference in diameter, how are you guys recalibrating the speedometer/odometer?

Can a dealership do that if you are not running a tune?
