Perfect Day for a Car Wash

Perfect Day for a Car Wash
Finally gave the car a nice hand wash, since we finally have some nice weather today on the east coast. It's my V6 premium that I picked up last October ... have had a lot of rough winter weather since then. Unfortunately I never get to take her faster than 30 mph living in New York City, so I'm actually glad I didn't get the GT, although I'd still like to test drive one one of these days.
Speaking of the winter, there's been a lot of salt on the roads this past winter, and I'm sure a lot of it wound up on the bottom of my mustang. Anyone have any idea how protected these things are against salt? Do I need to figure out a way to get it cleaned underneath?

That car is awesome looking. They are just as we'll protected against corrosion as any other modern car. That said it is always a good idea to get the under carriage cleaned off. My wife has an SHO and I have her run it through a touch less car was once per week in the winter then in the spring I get the pressure washer out and give the under carriage the once over. We live in New England so corrosion is always in everyone's mind.

Does anyone know what exactly is under those removable panels on the bottom of our mustangs?

The engine will be fine. It's the sheet metal you need to be concerned over. You can get to all of those places. The best thing you can do for your car is to insure the drains are always clear. The drain in the rocker panels, the drains under the doors, drains in the cowl, etc.

This may sound strange, but after all the salt is gone, I put a lawn sprinkler under the car and let it do it's thing for about 5 minutes. Sounds weird but it works. You will be surprised with all of the crap that comes off.
