Was this a good deal for my Gotta Have It Green Mustang?

Hello,

I'm currently in the negotiation phase of purchasing a new 2013 Mustang V6 Premium that I am having the dealer order through the factory. Here are the following options and would like y'all's opinion on whether or not this is a good deal price wise:

MODEL:
2013 V6 Premium Coupe, 6-Speed Automatic Transmission: $27,395

PACKAGES:
201A: $295

EXTERIOR:
Gotta Have It Green: $495
Satin Black Tape Stripe: $0
Coupe Accessory Package 1: $480
Glass Roof: $1,995

INTERIOR:
Comfort Package: $650
Power Code Remote Start System: $345
Rear Video Camera: $385

Destination Charge: $795

Total: $32,835 MSRP

From emailing several local and out of town dealers, the lowest price including ALL extra fees (tax, tags, title, registration fees) is $30,078.

I am not getting VIN etching done since I can do it myself.

Please tell me this is a good deal since I am new to car shopping.

Thanks,

Rushdown

That's a good deal. Edmunds lists invoice on a car optioned that way at $30179. So if you're getting it with TT&L for that number it's pretty good. I wouldn't let that stop you from calling all three and saying the other two were offering to sell it to you for less though. One of them will go lower. There is also a $1k rebate going on right now so make sure you negotiate your price before the rebate, not after. Good luck!

Only if what is most important to him is getting the best price on the car. If he thinks he will look at out that beautiful green ***** and think "I got the best deal possible" and enjoy the car that much more (like I do when I walk up on mine) then he should lie. If he thinks the lie will bother him then obviously he shouldn't.

In my opinion lying during a car negotiation is like lying while playing poker. It's all in the game.

Also order a brochure from ford.com and hope for a $750 private cash coupon. Order one brochure for 2 or 3 different models, the coupon that comes with it will work on most standard (non boss/shelby/raptor etc) models. Also, see if you can get xplan somehow. Check with your employer if it's a large company, or join the Mustang Club of America. Xplan pricing (search forums for more info) is roughly $150 above invoice, no haggle.

My USAA price would've been $29,762, without TTL, so you probably got a pretty good deal. Buying through USAA is wonderful if you're a Vet or active, no haggle either way, mine was stickered at $41,385 and I got it for 37,814. Now maybe others get it for less, but the stress free purchase of this is what does it for me.
