What'd You Pay?

Gentlemen,

I'm in the midst of dealing for a 2013 Boss with Recaro seats and limited slip. The dealer an I are $1,000.00 apart. So far neither of has budged. I must make a decision tomorrow of whether to purchase or walk away and look for another car.

The List Price is $44,990 (includes Recaros and limited slip $1,995.00 option) and he has offered to reduce that to $43,990 and I want another $1,000 reduction. They have offered me what I consider a fair amount for the trade in of my 2005 GT Premium.

If you would please provide me what you paid for yours, excluding any trade in you might have had and state whether or not it had the Recaros and limited slip option. Perhaps the MSRP of your car and how much over/under it you paid. Please do not include tax, title and license (TTL) as they vary from state to state and would confuse the issue.

Thanks for your help. If this is a fair offer then I will probably accept. Some of you may remember on the "Track Key 2013" thread of mine that this same dealer wanted to charge me $800 for the "optional" track key. Armed with info from you guys I got him to abandon that position.

Any help greatly appreciated,

Curtis

The prices that people paid vary throughout, some people paid list others paid under and some paid adm's of varying amounts. Just get the best deal you can and be happy. I myself paid list when the 2012's first came out, I would also not consider 1k to be a deal breaker.

Thanks Mauibob and orng302,

I agree with everything you said orang......., but I just want to know whether to push or fold and take the deal. Correct $1k is not a deal breaker, but it would buy some nice upgrade speakers for the interior.

Thanks,

Curtis

I paid sticker at a point when most dealers were lucky to have one a most wanted +5-10k markup. So I was happy with my deal.

Now that there seem to be multiple on dealer's lots (at least in this area) I expect you can get the deal you want. But I wouldn't let a few hundred break the deal if it comes down to that.

I paid $43K or the same options (no cover and basic floor mats). This dealer also had two Grabber Blues and was looking to move one quick so they could bring in another car.

Have them meet you in the middle and let them install your track key, unless you already have. If tis is the car you really want and is the color you love, then anything under MSRP is a good deal. I'd be more focused on what financing you are getting. The $1K is irrelevant unless you are paying cash or are 100% sure you are keeping the car for life.

Ps. Or negotiate some better pricing on an extended warranty if you decide to get one.

I have to agree. I paid sticker and that was after hunting one down. My local dealer had the same color and option I wanted but would not move from +$5K and I even afford $3k. so I found a dealer 130miles away and that's far for LA. I must have passed 10+ dealerships just to find a deal.

Pay what your willing to pay. The $800 for the red key thing they tried to pull was way wrong. But if your under MSRP and still can't see yourself paying a certain amount then maybe the car isn't that important. That's just me. Don't take it the wrong way. Just make sure when you sign, it's with a smile.

Okay guys thanks,

I'm at $1,475.00 under MSRP. I'm paying cash. My question is really designed to help me decide whether to jump on this deal (he's in my state) or shop for another dealer (like SoCalBoss302), realizing that there aren't anymore. White is the only acceptable color for me so that the hunt might be difficult.

Thanks Darth Boss, I had forgotten that the "Boss" floor mats and car cover is also an option. This car does not have them. It was about $345.00 as I recall. So not a deal breaker as one can always (I think) acquire these items through the parts department.

Thanks,

Curtis

Don't just walk away, run away. He's making a killing at that price point.

And anything hes offering you on the trade in is bull****, hes factoring that into the price of the Boss. If hes offering $3k more on the trade in that you thought he would, that's because hes making up $3k on the new car.

Offer him $40K cash and walk out the door. No add ons, no dealer "fees" no extra ****, no "Doc fees, biggest scam ever, really? $499 to hit print on a computer and print out a receipt for the purchase you just made? Screw them) Offer to write a check and walk out. If they don't chase you down in the parking lot or call you (if you were stupid enough to give them your phone number) then screw them. These things are sitting around everywhere, its not like its a Cobra R that only a handful of them were made. Its a Boss, they're out there.

Don't let them feed you any **** about how lucky you are that they happened to have one. Be ready to walk away. No need in padding the pockets of some slime ball salesman or ****stick dealer. Give them the finger and never look back, they're going to make money off of it either way. Don't get emotional and fall for that **** they spread about how they are actually losing money on it because they want your business so much. LOL, biggest line of **** ever told, they're making money off of it no matter what happens with the deal, and they're damned sure making money off of your trade in, that is just a distraction technique to throw a monkey wrench into the negotiations of the new car. Forget about it, pretend it doesn't even exist.

cwcary: I guess my question is are you willing to travel to get a better deal? If so, than you can definitely find a better deal. You just have to determine what's more important to you - saving some $ or the convenience of buying locally. I would be very hesitant to purchase from these guys since they already tried to pull that $800 bs on the trackey. I think if $42900 is what you are comfortable with, then wait for it. You will find the one you want for that price and you get the trackey included too. Since it's the last day of the year and the month, do yourself a favor and call/email some dealerships with the Boss you want and tell them your deal. I would be willing to bet you will get the Boss you want for the price you want.

That's pretty much half way between sticker and invoice. It's a good deal considering you said you're happy with the trade value as well.

You do realize dealers need to make money as well? That would be a bad deal for the dealer so unless they are desperate to move the car it's not happening. The Boss is not a Focus and one of the cars dealers look to for making some money.

Orng302, You beat to the question for Rather...........

I pulled the trigger this morning, local dealer (which I prefer) he found one about 100 miles away. Will be at local dealership this afternoon.

I paid $43,965.00 which included the car cover/floor mat option ($475.00) which I did not want less $500.00. Also they let me do my own paper work which saves a couple of hundred.

Will pick up later this week.

Thanks all for your help.

ive stated this before but i paid $2k under sticker for mine but i traded in 2 mustangs for it. i knew they were going to make money on my trades but if you plan on holding on to the car for years then you need to highly consider purchasing the white boss.
if you plan to trade in 2 or 3 years, forget it...wasting your money. realize these cars are not being produced anymore and the quantity of them are slowly going away....if you can even find them. ive searched used and most of them are still hanging at good prices with several thousand miles on them...
i fought with myself for the days before i bought thinking i wasnt getting a good deal but when i considered the car, and what potential it had down the road it was an easier choice. ultimately its your money your spending and what your comfortable with.
