That the same MT82 in the standard V6 model and problematic GT MT82 is the same transmission that's in the Boss?

Yes, I actually I did or I wouldn't have posted this thread. It's not an upgraded version or anything? I heard that today and didn't believe it. What in the world?

$45k car. No money left in budget for beefy transmission.

Weak spot in the whole car along with the cheap shifter it comes with.

I have to agree that the shifter is a big let down. Wonder if it would have cost that much more to have a decent unit from the factory? So far...that's the only let down I've found...other than they probably could have included Sirius radio and/ or a better sound package for those of who do not take our vehicles to the track.

All in all...a very nice package.

Yes. I have a Steeda shifter bracket and mine shifts like butter around town. Not so much on track and it's getting worse.

Says the guy that doesn't even own a Boss. So you're saying the transmission is perfect and it's not possible to have shifting problems? Ever had your GT on a road course?

And here is the cure for it:

Rob

P.S. Would you pay an extra 3K for your Boss for the Tremec ?

whys it mater if I have a boss? we have the same trans .. Took my old shelby out a few times to NASA days and canyon runs so...

also I never said its perfect.. just that people make such a big deal over nothing and its just silly. kind of like hearing high school girls cry about boys. Its funny at first but gets old.

For what it is worth the TR-6060 the transmission that is in the Boss 302S also has shifting issues. The same thing happens when shifting into second on high RPM shifts even with an upgraded shifter like the MGW. Some of the solutions have been to get the CHE Torque limiting brace which limits the amount of movement in the shifter allowing it to go into gear a lot easier.

IMO the MT-82 is one hell of a transmission. It got a lot of bad rep in the beginning and Ford quietly changed some things around but I also think a lot of it was some driver error. It is head and shoulders above the T-5 and the T-3650 and IMO feels a bit better then the TR-6060 due to the clutch pedal having the assisting spring. But with that being said, it is not without it quirks just like every transmission.

For what its worth,...My 2007 GT500 shifted oh so much better in every way with the Tremec than my Boss does with the Getrag MT82,....bad rep or not I'm going on personal experiance,....went with the MGW shifter on the Boss,...and it still doesn't compare,....yah its better now,...but it still isn't what it should be. The MT82 one Hell of a transmission, compared to what?
