What kind of a deal can be had on Boss's
#2
The trouble with buying a Boss is it is a rare model. Small dealers get allocated one a year. The dealer where my son works is just such a case, he is asking $5K over MSRP for a LS. Yeah, right. If you shop a big dealer, your chances improve. I was looking for a SBY Boss and I found 3 150 miles distant in northern Virginia. My older son who is a State trooper lived right near one of the dealers who was 5 minutes from his house. He stopped in (in uniform) and asked about the car for me. The dealer had 3 BOSSES on the floor. My son told them I wished to purchase the car and asked if they would honor "D" plan for Ford employe's families, they did. I saved $4500 under MSRP. I was lucky because they DO NOT have to honor the plan. I took the phone from my son left a deposit and drove the car home next Saturday.
I advise using the internet and finding dealers still holding more than 1 BOSS, chatting and seeing who will cut you a deal. Personally I expected to pay MSRP. Oh BTW, I am personna non grata at my son's small dealership where I have my work done, go figure!

You really came out smoking , as you must have found a Dealer who was asleep at the wheel, as neither the Boss or the GT500 even qualify for D Plan. Most Dealers will plug in the Vin to check , as it will state what each vehicle is eligible for. He not only will be taking a super bath on your car, he will get nothing back from Ford.
With the year winding down, more and more Dealers are wondering how many more Bosses they may get and it would not surprise me to see things go up on the cars once there is a definite take on whether there will be a Boss of any kind in 2014. Though not listed for 2014, the rumors persist, so there are many waiting in the wings, IMHO.

Boss Man 13 got the best deal I've heard of. There are people on these boards that run dealerships that couldn't get that deal.
I personally paid right at $43k with Recaros/Torsen, cover, and tint on the car already.
I believe deals can be had if you are willing to
travel and take the time to work the dealerships. But as the prevuous poster said I can see the possibility of things tightening up as allocations run out and the Boss inventory becomes smaller.

I Paid MSRP!
So my wife and I had a deal with a dealership. They originally told us our car would come in in about 2 weeks or less. Mind you we were going to pay 47470 for a school bus yellow/black stripes 13 boss with no Recaro Seat package. 2 weeks passed no car, then they told us Sep 18 and no car again. Yesterday I was tired of waiting called another local dealer after I looked on Ford.com for more Boss 302's in my area. After ten minutes on the phone, I ended up getting the money I wanted for my wife's car and paid MSRP for a Performance white boss, with black stripes and Recaro and Torsen. Went this morning and signed Paperwork and car is in on Friday! Awesomeness! Price paid for 2013 boss 45.5K, look on dealer's face when I canceled,, Frickin PRICELESS!!!

If you're willing to travel, deals can be had for sure. But then again here in CA 98% of the dealers are charging some sort of markup.
That being said, by using Ford.com, AutoTrader, and Craigslist I was able to narrow down my search for an MSRP car. I tried to keep the search to less than 500 miles as I wanted to drive it home...but my good friend runs a car transport company, so that was my backup plan.
I found my PW 2013 in LA for MSRP, roughly 330 miles away. They ended up throwing in the car cover/floor mat package. So I guess technically you could say I got it for $300 (or whatever they normally charge) under MSRP .
The drive home was epic btw...I highly recommend this delivery method.

I think there were better deals on the 2012s because many people were holding out for the 13s, which left 2012 302's setting on the lot. I don't think that is going to be the case this year. It looks like the Boss run is over and if it really is, I would expect the prices will stay higher on the 13s for longer. The Boss 302 will be the last of the limited edition "retro" style mustang. That in itself should leave mustang enthusiast nabbing the last of the Boss's with out batting an eye at MSRP.

Those who think that the Boss doesn't qualify for D Plan have been misinformed. I purchased my 2013 PW on the D Plan. The dealership has been reimbursed by Ford. My daughter is the office manager and confirmed all the details with Ford before I made the purchase. That being said, there are dealerships that do not want to sell the Boss on any employee pricing schedule.
I know of a dealership that will sell the Boss for under MSRP on a retail deal.

Well, the online reference material for D-plan purchases lists the '13 GT500 and a 302 as ineligible products for D-Plan purchase. Not too long ago a friend of ours (he's the owner of the dealership) was charged back a healthy sum on his own GT500. It takes about 3-6 months for the auditors to catch it. If they don't figure it out, your dealership may get lucky. More often than not it will bite them down the road.

Augman,
They did check with Ford directly and yes, the Shelby was ineligible but Boss did qualify and they got approval prior to the deal. Sometimes the online info is incorrect or outdated. I wonder if it makes a difference if the Ford dealer has their inventory floor-planned with Ford Credit????

I'm quickly finding that dealers in So Cal are much easier to work with.

I actually have a 2013 Grabber Blue Boss 302 coming in. It is currently for a customer (and forum member), but for the life of me, I don't know why he isn't calling me back. The car is built and sitting at Ramp "Area" 51. I've texted him, sent him numerous emails and PMs from this site, and from my hotmail account, and called almost 10 times. NOTHING!!! If it arrives, and he doesn't call me within a few days, I can't hold it forever. No deposit, as I didn't need one. He's a prior customer and I didn't want to hold his money for 9 months (it was ordered back in December and I knew it was a 4Q car).
But with that, if he doesn't contact me, the car will be for sale. Its got the Recaro/Torsen package. No Boss Accessory Package though. MSRP is $44,990. And that's what I'm selling it for. If anyone is interested, give me a call at the number in my sig or send me a PM. Thanks for taking the time to read the post.
